Instant Messengers vs. Forum Posts

Alright, people. There's a difference between the two. If you want a chat conversation with someone, that's only of interestes for the participating people, then please use Instant Messengers. Some even allow for conferences, where many people can take part. Almost all IMs offer the opportunity to leave offline messages, so you won't miss anything. It's the same fun for the people who like it, and it does not annoy people who are actually interested in using the forum as a forum.
I also noticed that almost every thread goes off-topic at some point. We haven't been moderating the forum overly active in the past, and we don't plan to do that. But please, for the sake of the people, who are really interested in a discussion, limit the off-topic posts to a minimum.
I'm asking politely now, and that didn't work in a specific topic. If it doesn't work, then we will probably have to start moderating more actively, and that will take the fun out of this forum. So let's try to avoid that.
Thanks for your understanding, and sorry to the people who got annoyed by the random posts, and the irritating chit-chat topics. We should probably have done something about it a little earlier.
