Tools and stuff - Make them, buy them, trade for them. Just like IRL.
Interact with others - little 'talk to all' box, plus the options on the 'people' page.
Interesting things - Pretty much everything.
Meet at one place? - Possible, but forbidden. To make sure you don't break the CR and have them all work together.

I'll answer your questions in order;
1. Well, first you need to find the resources to build tools. Some things need certain tools to build for example a house needs a trowel to build it. A trowel is either made out of wood or iron or just simply iron and your character would have to go out and find those resources and either gather it themselves or trade for it or soemthing of that nature to obtain the resources. Then you would need to start a project to build a trowel and you place the needed resources on that project. Once the trowel is built then you will need to collect stone for the house and then likewise start a building project to build building and add the needed stone to the project.
2. You can interact with other characters by talking out loud or talking directly to them. Remember, just because you see the character doesn't mean the player is one and sometimes it might take a bit until a character or specific character replies to what your character says. You can also create notes which is another form of interaction between characters in game.
3. Well, I know many interesting things but some people would rather find that out in game.
4. Well, it could be possible if all your characters and everyone's elses traveled to the same location but it would take a long time for that to happen and it would be an obvious breach of the Capital Rule.
5. No. You must travel to places and create your map or you could use a map that another character already created that your character found. Many experienced players and even staffmembers don't have access to the full map of the Cantr world. It is believed that it is better for people to discover the Cantr world from what their characters' discover. But Jos has said in the past that he is considering someday of publishing the Cantr World Map.
I hope that helps. The best way to learn things are to have your characters ask questions in game.

No don't ever do that. Maps are getting better and better all the time. I predict by day 1000 we will have a Cantr World Map. Maybe a bit longer as soon as maps of the oceans become more specific and travelling between islands becomes more common. Most areas are already mapped. It's just a matter of gettting these maps together in one place. Which is slowly happening.

I predict otherwise though I am not allowed to say why.

Oh but I can guess. I mean what's the name of your department again?

Not really.

I was actually referring to all the inaccuracies of the maps and when Cantr 2.0 comes out with the grid system all of those maps will become useless even more.

Yeah I forgot about Cantr 2.0. Well if we pretend that that was never going to happen and things would keep going as they are now. I think a rough map of Cantr would be made. I've seen some killer looking maps.

i've seen some maps that are the complete opposite aswell like the first map i ever saw in my first char all it had on it was the information that i could see in the location screen since everyone that had left the area to make a map never come back lol

But are they accurate?

And up to date?

I'm not sure what is exactly planned as I am not involved in Cantr 2.0 but I think it has been said that if a grid system was to come about then it would be possible only for Cantr 2.0 which is suppose to be a lot more advanced as far as this version. So we will see when Cantr 2.0 comes out which I can't wait for.

The graphical maps with be very useful.
Even the older maps will show major roadways even if some of them are from ancient times.

Yes that is the map that came to mind when I wrote "Killer Map" It looks fairly accurate to me. And I don't see it becoming outdated except for the places where they add more resources, but the graphics should stay the same.
