Just post any serious and meaningful and deep quotes some players and characters have said.

There are a few I know but I'll compile them all first in a word document before putting them here.

I have the feeling that most meaningful quotes lose their magical qualities once they leave the game. Nonetheless, the forum is an extension of the game so I wouldn't be so embarassed to cite my own favorites, which for the most part come all from one player who has since disappeared. It is from her, mostly, where I find it necessary to try to give somewhat startling speeches or comments with a little more thought than the usual dialogue. Cantr would, after all, not being simulating society if it did not have its own share of quotable quotes.

One poem from the particular player came through their character, Maily Yumm, in her poem 'Necessary Conviction.' It was a lasting impact on the way my character lived his life accordingly and inspired by it until almost the very end, when he decided tragically against it. The poem stems from a conflict of good and evil, but moreso in terms of the idea of service. Her other poem, Leader of the Clan, had a profound influence on my other character, who faced the challenge of living up to his father's legacy.

All these poems are found in the late John Locke's Echoes of a Life Lived compilation.

How about her collected poems, In Appreciation of the Nature of Peas? Did that change your life just a little bit?

I particularly liked these lines:

peas help me peas
...what the hell are they really?

What the hell is life (in Cantr) really?

The names have be XXX'd to protect the author... :)

1158-2:XXXXXXX - a man in his fourties says: "Well, XXXX, I don’t know exactly what words to say… but I will tell you the truth, and hopefully that will explain. I didn’t need the incident at XXXXX to show me how much I loved you, but it brought it all into focus. When they dragged me off, and I only just made it back on, my heart was racing. It was not just the ship… it was the fact that they were stealing you from me. I can’t bear the thought of losing you, you mean more than anything else in my life – all the iron, propane and steel that I have. You have fulfilled dreams I never realised I had. You showed me that I was half a man without you, you completed me. I want to spend my life with you, I want to marry you. I love you so much, so much more than I thought was ever possible when you boarded my ship.

Is this what you were suggesting?

"And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance."

Part of a very moving funeral speech from a man to his love.

That, folks, is why plagiarism is left to the stupid people in this day and age.

"Lass, It did be almost more n' I could be standin', t' be thinkin' I'd not be seein' ye again nor speakin' wi' ye at all fer such a long while. I do be understandin' yer position, and yer obligations which be passin' my humble understandin'. All the same it do be seemin' a hardship t' me to be parted from ye thus, and to be seein' ye but this moment. Duty or no, travel or no, distance or no, whether I do be simply amusin' to ye or no, I'll not be lettin' th' matter rest so easy. As I did say afore, I do be no silly boy, and I'll not be proclaimin' love or be promisin' th' moon when we do be havin' so little between us. But that little! -- ai! Aciel, Analice -- that little bit that is, it do be in my heart to stay, and I can be no be doin' anything to be changin' it, nor would be wishin' to. I'll be sayin' naught else, save that ye be as beautiful at rest, and that but briefly, as ye do be awake and oe'r a week o' time. Blessings be on ye, then, and save travels. I'd meant to be leavin' ye wi' a little gift I did be makin' fer ye, a necklace o' daisies like, but I can no be passin' it to ye on th' road. Mayhap th' smallest o' somethin' to be lookin' forward to on yer return. That, or it may be givin' ye a smile o'er th' next while to be thinkin' I'd be havin' th' idea ye'd be interested in such a trifle. *smiles*"

;)

Edited a little... but it is good.

And that one would be mine, Sunni, so that you can compare. An' I do be thankin' ye, Lina-lass.

Oh, and... the funeral one from notsure is also mine. And with a nod to Sho, yes, stolen from Gibran, with several modifications. I find it's easy to improvise the flirtatious/romantic stuff, not as easy to play maudlin and distraught off the top of my head.
