Maps
I just wanted to know what everyone's favorite maps around Cantr are.
I would put up a poll, but I don't want to leave out any maps that I can't think of right now.
What does everyone think? Just name some maps that some of your characters use because a map isn't worth anything unless it can be used.

Well, my character is the author of Ambrose Corla's Map. And yes, his name is Ambrose Corla. Not to be partial but I like my character's map the best because it does more than most other maps.
But beyond my character's map there is the map that can be found that looks like a real map in Ladvicitavoi. I'm not sure what the name is or who it is by but General Sester Gartaf got a copy from a guardsman that traveled to Alenz Hills during the time when Sjofitch came under the Alexian Empire. So I think it was drawn by someone in Alenz Hills.

Well, Ambrose's map is a combination of physical and political map as well as a little journal of the journey and of places that he has observed. He started in Pok around 300 and has mapped a lot of that area, except the mountains, he has mapped all of the Commonwealth, and is continuing to map the Mirovash/Olipifirovash region in which he is almost done with. Plus, he has already been offered rides in cars, bikes, boats etc... but has refused all those things. He claims the best way to travel is by foot and foot alone.

I think a maps worth is defined not by how big it is, but how eassily the information was gathed.
For example there are about 7000 maps in Klojt (the area right next to Dory), but only 1 of them is really useful since the others are just overlaps of each other and hard to read. A map should be unique and easy to undestand and follow.

Yes, a lot of maps are those that someone put together from existing maps. Every place Ambrose has recorded in his map is a place he actually traveled to and observed. He has been asked to add places that he hasn't been to yet but has refused to do so thus far.
But I think Ambrose is really the first mapmaker to actually record things in his map such as what kind of government there is, who rules, what is the culture like, what is the technology like, what kind of market there is and whether or not it is a good market etc... I've seen ver few maps if any that has included information like that.
I also think Ambrose's map is easy to understand but there maybe a little too much information in it for some.

Yes my pride is the detail I have about the roads. I have what type of road it is how long it takes to travel along it and how much resources it takes to upgrade the road. The only other really unique thing my map has is if it borders a coast and if it has a harbour. I more or less just wrote down what Maily told me to when she sent me and Winnifred out to get rubber.

Well this an entry in Ambrose's map considering I don't think I could really explain it in any other way.

The only problem with a map like that is that it goes out of date quickly. There's a really old map in Pok and Djorf and places around there that's from around 200. It's a really big map though which is good.
Personally, ny favorite map is my travling character's map, which no one else has yet. She recently combined the above mentioned map with the one in Dory and also changed the format so it's easier to read.

That is why Ambrose has this at the beginning of the map;
"This map is done by Ambrose Corla, the Great Mapmaker. Information may be outdated
and therefore may be incorrect."
Plus, I don't think the information outdates that quickly plus it would give someone a brief introduction of what they might run into if they go there. A lot of maps don't do that which is why I don't like many other maps in game because all they are is a bunch crap put on a note.

Actually I just figured that since a lot of the island's borders have already been defined so any ships that do happen to come across them would stop dead in their tracks when they hit the coastline. And I think Jos or Thomas said something to that effect a while ago when such a ship was stuck out in the sea and that is hit a coastline of an island that didn't have any locations yet. I don't think it has happened recently since the Kwor Map has been complete and the islands that are being worked on currently are a little ways from the populated islands.
I could always check the map and see if any ships are nearing any of the unpopulated islands but I don't there is.
