We can do stuff with barley

So, I figured this might be cool enough to announce on the forum. The days of barley being useless are finally at an end.

The Resources Department is now offering granola, available in a mixing bowl. It is made from barley and blueberries (maybe a blackberry version to come later).

Stew is aslo available in the nearest oven. Just half the meat of a normal cooking meat project, and a bit of barley as filler will hopefully be nice in those animal poor regions that have a bit of the useless grain lying about.

Happy cooking. :)

P.S.: While I was adding the new projects, I bumped the nutritional value of pizza (one of those chronically complicated foods) to 20 grams per day eating rate. I hope to improve sushi in the near future as well.

FANTASTIC!

Thank you Wichita, and thanks to anyone else involved (since I can't sort out whick dept does what these days)

Excellent to hear, Wichita.

By the way, is there any way to make it so that pizza isn't automatically eaten? I had a character who made some just a little while ago, and though she held cooked meat and carrots, gobbled up that pizza so fast she could barely share any.

Wouldn't that be automagic due to pizza having a higher nutritional value after wichitas fix?

Oh, that would be great, though I thought it had a higher nutritional value than carrots or meat before. Perhaps I was wrong.

You were wrong... :P

Now pizza will be eaten last, just before healing foods.

Hmm. It should be eaten last now, like Surly says. The new eating check eats the least efficient food first (potatoes before cooked meat, etc), then eats any dual foods (so cooked meat will go before spinage), eating the least efficient dual food first (spinage will go before salad).

At least it has worked for all my characters without a glitch. :)

And where is barley to be found? Seatown Gardens / Seatown.

Am I surprised? 8)

In other words, for an entire continent, most of the new foods can be made exclusively in just one small corner of it, and in that one small corner all the ingredients are available with no need for trading.

What about Irish stew? Meat, potatoes and carrots....

I must plead with the RD. We need bulk processing of harvester foods in large amounts! We need it urgently!

Barley all around Hilloi

Yes, the other island is OK. They also have bread many places and can manage potato salad. So the only one they miss out on is tossed salad (no carrots, etc).

Have the days of Sociologist whining for precisely what his characters need returned once again? ;) *AHEM*

I have a poster sized Treefeather on my wall in my family room, to aid in an update I'm working on, and to map out resources better so I can see where things get affected on that island when changes like this occur.

Does anyone on staff do that? And when is someone going to make a comparable map of the Siom island? :P

Give me a call if you ever come to RL, I'll buy you a beer.

Actually the barley stew was added with Hilloi, K, and Burgeo in mind spefically, if you must know. And I guess I did forget to mention the other stew recipe which require meat, potatoes, and carrots.

I for one try to consider areas as a whole as best I can when designing these latest changes. Unfortunately, I have to use knowldege of areas my own characters have seen and existing maps just like you guys do.

Just double checked and noticed these had not been updated as planned. I am sorry and this inefficiency has now been fixed.
