If You haven't noticed we have historical moment!
The first time in history (at least when I could observe) players from other than English zone have the biggest share of Cantr community.
Look at statistics:
Polish players: 889
English players: 870
That mean that everything can change and how many players we have in Cantr depend of our activities.
Take a look on english zone trend:
and compare it to lithuanian one (very good recently):
, swedish:
or to polish (as the best to compare):
CAN YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE?
Let's advertise Cantr wherever You can, on forums, toplists, to friends, in other games - in every language you can speak. It doesn't take much time and will make Cantr more interesting, conecting few big civilisations.
In other case Your charries will finish as a slaves in fast growing lithuanian, polish, or swedish empires

This is somehow bad?
Anyway, despite the fact that the population-scales don't start at 0, one wonders what happened in the english zone around 1350, where 300-something characters appaerently died...

Remember that at any given time most "players" are spurious, merely applying for the game without really playing it, so the resulting statistics tends to follow bulging "trends", depending on where the game is advertised. To really judge movements or trends, you should look only at characters over 25, or else somehow rate only players with a character over 25.

You're right but don't forget about scale effect.
More players will start to play, more will stay to have 25 years.
I also think that this is exponential growth.
More people will stay longer if more other people will be avaible at the same time. I remember my first days in polish zone - there were no people to talk to. I didn't know what to think about it? I though: "Should I play myself?"
Finally I stayed. Now is is different, newspawns appears in the middle of action, everywhere - it is much easier to stay in game.
So, even if trends are not exact or don't show true stats, they are usefull to look in the future

more or less.
And this future will for sure breal english zone monopoly

what is what I can't wait

It seems like it'd be hard to have an affect on the world unless you can find a good chunk of it. How is Polish seafaring? Slightly off-topic, but now I'm curious.

Nevertheless, every Y-axis of those graphs are different.

My heck you skew the results! The Polish are the only true threat to English sovereignty (sp?). We're also the only two language groups with forums. Yay. I have three characters who will be dead before they submit to foreign rule! Three! Or two, the other might just try to exploit it...meh, I'm ranting.

Come and check it. But better take armed crew
Development is already on the stage of galeons, harbours, lighthouses and many smaller units, and few empires who can control organised fleets and maintain colonies.

The effects of advertising in such have to be trends that come and go, that go up and down, for if they were not, then the communities that had pop up lots of characters would now be high, mighty and big. Whereas they obviously are not. (logic

)
Dutch area is second oldest I think, but there doesn't happen much. Honestly I think that it's about 12 players controlling most of the chars there.

Could you please use the same scale on your graphs?
Otherwise the point of having the graphs is negated... they don't prove anything.
But well done, Polish marketing... now, why is this game so popular in POland?

That's too much work for too little result

... Of course they're not 'pointless' now or proving anything more or less than otherwise. You can read the scale, so you know what it says. English number of players is more or less stable; Lithuanian and Polish are growing - do you need similar scales for that? And Lithuanian is much smaller than Polish - you can just read that off the scale.
Someone mentioned the sudden drop in English players on one day. That's a bit of an artifact really - a bug in the part of the program that automatically cleans up the list of inactive players which was removed after a few days. Over those days, the number of players accumulated, and once the bug was removed, a large number was removed.
