That is why Lavasoft Ad-Aware is my saviour. I have never had an unwanted popup since I ran it. And it's completely free. Only thing is, if you use Kazaa, since Kazaa comes packaged with adware and the like, you'll have to reinstall it or get something better after you run it, as it won't work once the offending programs have been deleted.

if you use KazaaLite you won't get the spyware. The brilliant thing is that Kazaa made Google remove the links for kazaalite but if you search for it, at the bottom of the page there is a link to the official document detailing the links that were removed! :)

ironic that kazaa is concerned about copyright infringement, eh?

Using a Popup blocker of some kind does block popups but doesnt solve the problem. There's a spyware program installed on the harddisk and you might want to get rid of it... So Using AD-aware or spybot is the best option. You can download a free trial version and a scan takes only a few minutes. ( And in my case it had to scan through abt 140 GIG of data on my harddiscs).
Downloading from Kazaa doesnt neccesaryly mean u got it from kazaa, although the "non light" is indeed full of spyware which installs popups. But i got loads of infected E-mails recebtly. Norton deleted them right away, but one might have slipped through.
Everyone can get infected. Whether you download a lot or not. I never get spam... NEVER. but i DO get infected E-mails.
And SVChost.exe isbt the bad guy... It's SVC.exe in my case. though they can have any name.
