Old People

Postby BadMonkey » Sun Jan 29, 2006 11:08 pm

"She is very old"

That is the decription I was given of a woman I have just seen. There are others in their 70's, and she is older. But I cannot tell how old. I was wondering at what age they stop giving ages...

Wow. That's one way to make my chars feel young.

Might as well delete this now...No one else will be interested.

I don't get it. You mean when you at her it doesn't say a woman in her nineties, or whatever? It just says you see a woman that is very old?

Are these people close to dying of old age?

Dying of old age is random I believe. You could suddenly up and die at 60 or live as long as 120 years old.

The topic of death from old age needs to be discussed.

I am vehemently opposed to it, and I will state my case if the GAC decides to review this...

As I have said before, it is both unnecessary and not in keeping with Cantr...

I agree, why should Cantarians die if they can't reproduce.

Well if you didn't die..you would never get to the point of realizing that all the stuff we have been accumulating means nothing....you would just keep accumulating and acting the same....

60-120? That's quite the range. Since life starts at twenty in Cantr that would mean someone could live 2 1/2 times as long as another and both die of old age. Something just doesn't seem right about that.

Taking creative steps in Cantr already allows for a line of succession to already be built, having already taken part as both of the passer of one and the heir to another, allowing for death of old age. However, it appears that not many make it there anyways, so there's not really a need for it, as of yet.

Yeah, but if you realize it after you're dead, what good does it do you? The next charrie you spawn, can't 'know' that lesson. :P

Well, although I have characters ranging from 40-60 something, I don't think I would keep on playing after my last four died. But old age would allow for their death, those to succeed them, without breaking my heart by killing them.
