The New Lands Department is responsible for geographical characteristics and features.
Zhift Forest is in a well explored and known region of Cantr , consequently no changes will be made there.
All locations have now been finished with the last changes (opening up coasts for landing and internal paths for the final undeveloped region) being made at the end of December.
There are now , no plans to alter any sea/lake access characteristics for any location.
Longer term when free roaming is implemented then there may be closer access to sea for existing inland locations.

There are all ready too many people in Zhift Forest. Opening it up to the sea would be a nightmare, so I'm glad this isn't an option.

Sea access would be awfully helpful for expanding the Elgas Empire, huh?
But honestly, I'm already getting sick of hearing about Zhift Forest. In the last two days I've already learned way more about that place that I ever wanted to know...

Actually no. Programmin wuld be the ones to do this and the only person that knows how to program the maps and stuff is Jos.
Anyways, New Lands doesn't exist anymore.

by the way, talking about forests, are herbs ever going to be added to the old forests like Zhift?

No, unless Jos changes his mind.

Thetaris, time after time you've done nothing but promote your characters motives in whether reporting capital rule breaches or asking for programming changes. Find IC solutions to IC problems.

Good advice for a lot of people, really. It may just be me, but since I joined the forum I've seen an increase in suggestions that fail to take into account the broader perspective.

shame about the herbs thing, that would have been cool and i have no characters in new islands, oh well maybe one of my characters will die at some point and i can see all of the new stuff thats been added

You're more likely to get to new islands by exploring, colonizing, and exploring further inland. I've seen bunches of new things, from resin to olives, by doing that. Of course, I'm in my late afternoon glory and I've now only been playing with four characters, so the deep hearted explorers (discovering Benlor or what not, that place) and Russian Omeo have since gotten the cut.
In response to the topic itself, the ZHS lack of sea access may be easily explained IC by its elevation, poor docking location, heavy winds, rocks, or any other reasonable extenuating circumstance--

This is obvious

Are all spices accessible in Europe? No... Are all rare resouces there? No... This was been very giood reason for exploration and sharing 'civilization'

Same in Cantr - so old islands can't get new resources...

Yeah, I understand now. It makes sense that we're surrounded by mountains, hence the winds, and sheer cliffs.
I'm sure the ship owners could build a ladder to Zhift Forest?
