Does anyone know if there is an age where Cantr charries will die from old age? I kind of hope that there isn't...

Where one of my chars is at present, there's a 70+ man wielding a pickaxe.

Don't we all... well, not necessarily, but to answer your question, yes, there is. I don't know what it is, or if it is the same for every character, but your characters can die of old age.
This thread does give me an idea, though.

I just recently saw a woman in her eighties. That was a first. In Cantr, of course.

I've seen several chars in their 70's and one or two in their 80's...

So, Nalaris, were you kidding about the man in his 140's?

You'll see a couple characters in their 90's in 2 or 3 Cantr years.

(Or at least one . . . what I think is the oldest character isn't very . . . outdoors-ish. My oldest is 87, and I don't know if there are any characters between her and the oldest, age-wise.)
And I'm pretty sure no one has died of old age yet, but Jos has said it will happen eventually.

I have to say that I disagree with death from old age in Cantr. There simply is no need for it... and I think it is inconsistent with the overall programming of Cantr for there to be random deaths according to age.

I've never seen anyone die from old age and I've hardly seen many old characters. It's not that comforting to know that most of your characters would die from either being murdered or by starving.
What is the current life expectancy for cantr?

Oh no, mortality is essential! In fact this goes to the issue of drives that I mentioned elsewhere. The more senior characters will then become concerned about how they will be remembered. Will they be remembered at all? What is their legacy? However, one should then look closely at this issue of inheritance/children before the first deaths come to pass. But mortality is one of the defining characteristics of human beings, so if cantr is to function as a simulator, it really does need to incorporate the inevitability of eventual death.
And think of the roleplay opportunities, the long poignant deathdbed scenes...
