Notches

Postby Agar » Wed Dec 14, 2005 2:36 pm

This will be a bit of self ego patting for everyone.

Oldbies know what I'm talking about, the things we have our characters do, that we think or novel at the time, or thing that no one has done before, it's like putting a noch on pistol grip or some such thing. These are the things that we've all heard of and done before when the newbs say "I'm gonna play a ... !"

Here's some of my noches, you other oldbies add yours, and you newbs can check off which ones you've done.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Played a Mute.
Played an illiterate person.
Played in another lanuage (even if you didn't have a full grasp of it)
(Pig latin in the latin area does NOT count :lol: )
Spawn and run thief (before or after that was decided was a CR)
Played someone/thing not quite human (sheep, cow, carrot, dog, orc, etc)
Played a pirate.
Tried to start a reliegon.
Made a map.
Sailed to a land not of your spawning.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Those of a few I can think of, you all get yours up.
Reality was never my strong point.

-Played someone who changed his name upon meeting a new person.

-Sailed to 3+ islands with several characters, including the discovery of brand new ones AFAIK

-Broke up with another character (aren't the majority of coupled characters for life in Cantr?...until, that is, one dies of the sleeping sickness and the other turns into a grump)

-Has been "with" a character for nearly 25 years, now married (since and only because it is tradition in the region)

-Has stepped up to the government of Seatown Forest at Council and didn't back down...for better or for worse (probably the latter)

-Has also stood up to TBR by destroying one of their outposts in a swift military action

-Has arguably, by the words of some characters, kept the peace in a historically volatile region

-Mapped a continent, created an encyclopedia, helped bring on the wave of inter-continental travel and merchantry, to just hit the main points

-Had a Lad Commander

-Has told another Lad commander's wife that she's suffering from mental sickness when presumably interrupting her by using a crowbar to knock on the door when they were in the "act" ;)

-Started a (life-taking) civil war, and nearly another, on a boat

-Has helped kill the arguably most infamous pre-1000 criminal (well, I guess either Aries or Maynard count, but I prefer to give the praise to the latter, since the former did it via cheating)

-Has had a character massacred back in the day (when tiredness was not an issue)

-Has killed a character who loved someone he was growing intimiate with (via manslaughter), to in the end be with this character

-Has had an adventurer/pirate who joined then dumped Nick's "Crew", as well as being (one of?) the first to discover the Russian island of Omeo

-Has 3 of the 10 most well known characters in Cantr, including the list topper ;)

-Has done literature/poetry purely for Cantr

-Has submitted to the 'zine

-Has transversed a continent (i.e. Lad's, though I've done the Minute K isle too) by foot, and later by bike, east to west, north to south

-Has a Legacy on Aki (& was the eldest char there), through suicidal philanthrophy :-P

The runner up is:

-Has been denied to Staff for "immaturity and impatience" :lol:

And the winner is:

-Has probably pissed off more people in Cantr than could be counted by fingers and toes :twisted: (and knows now that the way he phrased some of these points is going to get him a few nasty IMs)

(some of these things were done by the same character, as they're about 60 now)

- formed Tribe Blackrock
- ran the largest pirate crew (or any military group?) to have existed ~20 fully armed people
- made one of the, if not the, first trip between populated islands (Shai-Naron)
-not only play in a language group that I'm sort of weak in... I rule half of it
- played one of the 'magnificent seven', who made up the Krif Freedom Fighters
- stole from the Survivors with a retarded character :lol:

I got bored halfway through reading nite's list, so I'll keep mine short. :wink:

No, his religion failed (tried to start a religion). I want to know what he did wrong so I can do it right. And how can you possibly get bored of a list like that?

I am one of the others who discovered the Russian island of Omeo. I had thought I'd done it first... maybe not... (c. 1100) If i re-discovered it, well then I was the first person to colonize it properly by building a coaster harbor.

Commanded a military force of ~50 armed people.

Managed to lead Kwor from a village of 6 people to one of the most populous cities in Cantr, and managed to help popularize its religion with the same character.

I lead the assualt on the Barons.

I've been a commander of a police force who has since become a pirate and been very successful.

- Was the first ever (to my knowledge) to spawn a Swedish character in the Turkish area. Lets just say the communication eats up my minutes. :)

I was the leader of the Barons (and the first one of them to be killed by AOM's force)

I killed Valentine Dangle and wife (see above)

I was an Ambassador that maintained the peace between Karon and Karnon Forest until I got bored

I have travelled to lands so far away from my spawn island that they weren't poplulated with roads or resources (only names)...still travelling

Weird that someone still say that there are no OOC cliques in Cantr.

Are you paranoid?

I don't even know AoM or who the character was. I just saw the post above and found out he led the force. :?

- First person to escape from the Barons (Yes, I've said it many times, my charries are pretty poor with archievements)

- Committed rape and got away with it, was beaten near death due to attacking people (I think 98% damage) but managed to get fully healed, managed to convince many people he's really a good person, lived ten years in insanity, stole a bike and killed five people: Laif Seros in Brinks forest (north); Lord William von
Bennots, some girl whose name I unfortunately didn't learn and Elam in Brinks forest, and a man in his fourties in Xiria forest (east). Wounded several, in the time of tiredness in play. Finally died of his own request.

- Only one of mine has sailed to another continent (from Siom to Omeo). Is now mapping the coastline, and lately found Nurie Bocke's corpse. Stole things from Jordan Morris (or at least I think it was him, a fella in his sixties) and dragged him on a ship just before the change that made boat locks effective in both ways... plus the place is nowhere near a harbour. Also stole some stuff from Rainbow Bright. Oh, and encouraged some newspawn to take Toejam Hunter's raft. X)

- Has lived to the age of 34 without ever being to another town than the one she spawned in (this is soon about to change)

- I've played two illiterate people (one of them blind) plus one who's 48 and still doesn't have much logic in his spelling.

IMHO that escape was worthy of a notch.
