New Player! (Tetra)

Erg. I wanted to introduce myself to everyone here, and ask if there are any tips that could be given. I also need to warn everyone I am playing with... (Adf and others!) that I am still trying to figure out the controls, so if you tell me to do something, and I take a few turns to do it... you know why.

But, yes! A question! This is me and my non-mathness, but how many grams equal a pound?

Welcome.

Regarding grams-to-pounds conversions, it's irrelevent in Cantr but a kilogram is about 2.4 pounds (maybe?). Everything in cantr is measured in grams though.

As far as advice goes, read the wiki. That'll get you started.

For me, the capablity to convert grams to pounds approximately makes all the difference when trying to picture Cantr, and Cantr might as well not be text based if you're not visualizing it. Not to metion the budget, but that's such a small consideration (sarcasm).

Here's a tip I have learned through experience. Do not think to hard when trying to visualize the amounts of things and what you can make out of them. It wont correspond to what we know as reality. It is based on what works and keeps the game balanced and not so much on RL experiences.

Ex. Any person can carry enough stone to make 1 1/2 buildings. It doesn’t make perfect sense in real life, but everyone in Cantr can do is, so nobody thinks it weird.

Also the “Treasure Island” sticky is another great place to find stuff out.

I think you mean 2 1/2 extensions. Buildings are a bit more stone.

*nods* I noticed all of that stuff, it actually was kind of amusing a first. When I first started out, I was somewhat thinking the speech would be more ancient then modern... My first few words were:

Hello, fellow men.

After seeing the others speak normal, the general feeling of being a blonde starts to set in. (No offense to other blondes)

Thank you for the measures. For me, I just wanted to see how realistic it can get. Such as how many pounds of food a man eats a day.

Ok, heres the deal.

The buttons that say Events, Players, Buildings and vehickles ext.... They shou you EXACTLY what they say. Such as, the players button shows the players that are in your area.

Heres anothe thing. This intyer game is IN CANTR. So that means, when you start cantr, you can have 15 caracters. But one of your caracters, Mr. peanut, and the other, Bob, cant know ANYTHING about each other UNLESS THEY HAVE MET EACH OTHER. AND ALSO, you can only talk about things that YOUR CARACTER KNOWS. So basicly, if you want to talk about The war in Iraqu, then go to the forums.

Also, this is a very long game, so when you say somthing in cantr, it might take .5-2 REAL days to get an answer, unles your luckey enough to be in the same timezone and have the same scedual.

Everything els, you'll lern as you go.

(EDIT: unfortunalty, this game isn't based on reality. In the game, you can eat 40g of carrots a day, 50g of spinich,100g of potatoes, and so on. Its just how jos and all of the other Recourse department members balance the sertain food your eating.

opps, I was thinking wood for cottages = stone for buildings, brain fart moment.

(A brain fart is when your brain rids itself of information that you know you know and since you don't know what you know you know, you don't know that you don't know it, and then wind up making a fool of yourself)

What nick is trying to say is:

Welcome to the ring of forum goers!!!! Soon to be known ans the ring of pie ignorores. *Grumbles*

AND, this time, i was trying to help. And, you didn't tell me on what level of help you need, If you need help with buttons, thats fine, basicly everything els, its an In Game question. Just ask it here, and well tell you if its good or bad and if you should edit it or not.

What Nick and Pie are both trying to say is "Pie is mad and suffers from mood swings."

Also, you should check out the suggestions forum. Even if you don't have suggestions yourself, commenting on others is equally fun.

And don't worry about the whole "fellow men" thing, I did something much more embarrasing not five days ago.
