The Alexian Empire

Nalaris Deimos awoke one day and found his memory devoid of all things but a few technical and combat skills. He is in a place called Sjoftich Hills, he learns. The Eagle Outpost nearby is a storage place for the people. The mining outpost seems to be just that, a mining outpost. The Alexian Empire outpost is...What is the Alexian Empire Outpost? The only clues are three bodies of people in their twenties, all over a year old, who died of starvation. There's also about a thousand grams of rice nearby. My character will struggle with this mystery until the day he dies, but if anyone could shed some light, I wouldn't have to share his fate...

This should be asked in game/in character.

I've already asked, like I said, I'm not going to let Nalaris be affected by this. He'll cross continents to find the Alexian Empire's ex-capitol whether or not I know. I'm going insane with curiosity, I can't find anything!!! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pant...pant...pant...

Point is, Nalaris won't leave this alone until it's solved IC, and neither will I, and we'll both use all resources available to find out.

Hint: search the forums. Of course the information you'll find about the empire there is very outdated and subjective, but it is nonetheless very interesting. Also look for "Alexilad" and "Lad".

The Alexian Empire is another name for the Ladvicitavoian Empire, centered around the capital of Ladvicitavoi. It expanded way back when, under the leadership of Alexi Romanov (thus, the current name). Spreading to the sea at Naron (where Captain Hobbes, better known for his Encyclopedia, was once a very young Commander), and to the nearby raw metalmaking resource locations. He was seceded by Senecca Hawthorne (by which time I did have characters) and the Empire continued to grow. Senecca was seconded by Major Gaxiola and the General Sester Gartaf of the Alexian Guard, in reverse order. Lad's structures are apparent in the Sjoftich region since this is where Valentine Dangle, a Captain of the Lad Empire, created a colony of the Empire. By this time, the Empire became argubly both the most feared and powerful organizations in the game.

After a failed conflict against the DoUrden-Alenz Alliance, the former being a mercenary organization, which in itself was not the most friendly of people, the Empire fell into disarray (the current third era, so to speak). Internal power feuds helped the DoUrdens secure their decisive victory against the Lad Armies, which outnumbered the DoUrdens but were poorly equipped and unmechanized.

Thank you. I wonder what happened to the Lads in that building? Or are they even Lads? And how do you die of starvation with a thousand grams of rice right next to you? And how is Nalaris going to find out about this?

The chances are the common Cantrian won't ever find out about this, unless you're very lucky and run across just the right character to know so. Someone said something along the lines, 'history is written by the victors, but continues once they're dead by the forum oldbies.' You'll probably come across some of this information in certain areas, including the Chronicles of Cantr (check my sig's link) and more readily, at the Webzine, if there have been any articles about it. It's very unlikely for a character to know all that, since I had 2 long term characters in the Empire (Wen Kroy under Captain Dangle and Hobbes in Naron), along with the information I've picked up since.

Chances are they weren't Ladvicians but simply somebody who had fell in there and had died for some reason or another.

Sneezing sickness? Don't tell me, I'll be able to resist that curiosity until the oppurtunity to find out IC come up.

My IC theory is that they were trying to overthrow local government and form the Alexian Empire, but they were beaten away, holed up in their shack and then they died of starvation (all the bodies had died of starvation). Someone later used it to store rice in there. Since the place is abandoned, it's unlikely it would be stolen.

As surly said, your char could possibly find out the truth of that and much more, but your char also would be unlikely to survive gaining such knowledge.

If anyone has ever read the book "Singularity Sky" by Charles Stross, the New Republic in it sort of reminds me of how I think of the Alexian Empire and cantr. The universe is all high tech with faster than light space travel and such, but they keep their planet low-tech to have the lower classes stuck in indentured servitude, for "tradition" and the fastest form of travel planetside are classic trains. But they also have a royal navy with complex interstellar spaceships, controlled by brass knobs and dials. Maybe the reference isn't very good but the books a good read.

The Empire is still kicking, and I think it still has a chance of power if the leaders are ambitious enough.
It's been around long enough that it would be hard to stop... for instance in most towns if I try to force somebody to work for me, it won't work. But in Lad it's tradition, so they have plenty of labour available. And with the new spawning system they're going to have to expand more in order to have a good population.

The Alexian Empire is indeed alive and growing again. Radios are a wonderful thing, are they not?
