Music without extra implementation?

I think from what I know, "do" is note C, "re" is note D, and so on. Music could be done right now instead of having programmers to implement it, though instruments could be a nice touch.
Sorry to repeat this three times, but I guess this idea could be dicussed more extensively. Do discuss.

Personally, the only reason I see for instruments would to be...making the game more realistic, I guess. That, and in Fire Emblem for Game Boy, that little annoying kid with the flute can heal you... healing...thingy?

Well, the main point I'm intently mean is, again, how music could be done without having programmers to implement it.

I am assuming you only know a little about music...
The do, re, mi, fa, so ,la ,ti, do can be used for any key (which is a set of notes). You could do it with the C-scale (which is C,D,E,F,G,A,B,C) a B-flat-scale(B-flat,C,D,E-flat,F,G,A,B-flat) or any other scale. Thus, music could be done right now, but it would be horribly inaccurate, as one persons "do" could be C and another persons could be F#. (Actually that makes an open fifth, which sounds pretty good...) Anyways, a better way to do it is how Pie suggested. You don't pick the actual notes and rhythm, you just play, be it awkwardly, novicely, efficiently, skillfully, or expertly.
From this, I am saying it can't be done without being implemented. Unless you want people to just RP it.

Actually, I didn't mean for this idea to have it roleplayed. You could just write the music sheets/music notes and people could visualize the sound from the what is written in them. And about scales, you could show that too, like "Scale C" and such.

Well, some people wouldn't knows how to "hear" the sounds and the rhythms on the sheet. To them, it's just a bunch of lines with dots that have funny tails on them. It's like a different language (and really, in a way, it is). If you don't know how to read it, you can't.

I'm aware of that. There are people who don't know what note "A" and "C" sounds like music. There are people who just listen to music, not knowing what notes are played. But there are others who can read music, and those who can are fortunate enough to hear the music in the game as well as reality, depending on how good the music is in the game anyways.
I am assuming you only know a little about music...
Well just for your information, I know music enough to make an idea that could allow other people to visualize music as of now.

It'd probably be easier to just add in "useless" musical instruments, easier than making actual programming changes. Since "Easier" = "More likely to actually happen," I'd be perfectly happy with a flute or violin or whatever that was just for practicing your emotes with. It'd be better than nothing.

It's been suggested that character-created music could be output as MIDI files, which are almost as good as text in terms of bandwidth and processing requirements on the server.
Simple implementation:
To play music, you click on a "Play" button next to your instrument. This takes you to a screen where you can compose music by choosing pitches and durations for up to some maximum number of notes. When finished, you click the "Play" button at the bottom and this event is seen by everyone in the location:
1717-1: You see a man in his twenties play a tune on his harp. (Listen)
The "Listen" link takes you to a MIDI file of the tune played by the appropriate instrument.
Obviously, this would still be a lot of work for ProgD. I don't see a pressing need for this feature, so in the end it would probably be better to, as Lumin says, add "dummy" instruments that can be used in RP.

We already do music. We role play it. Hell, it's a game, use you're imagination.

We do indeed, Schme...
But you would have to say they play a concert C, because a C sounds different on every instrument.

I'd like some useless instrument objects...heck I'd like some more useless objects in general!

And what about people that don´t know anything about music? They don´t know how a C sounds or how an F sounds or what a Scale C is...

Simple as that. Otherwise one will have to learn what the notes sound like or something.

Please - can we not duplicate discussions... It's a real headache to 'merge' suggestion topics.
To me this seems like another suggestion about music (hence I do not know why it is in GD?) that it should be displayed visually, not as audio, or RPd rather than programmed. This was already discussed in the Musical Intruments Thread that I merged the other topic with.
I don't feel another topic is really required, more than one thread of discussion/ideas can be acrried in the same suggestion. I'm going to lock this, move it back to suggestions and 'merge' this one with the same one I merged the other one with.
If anyone thinks this is more deserving as a seperate thread, and does belong in GD - please let me know
EDIT: I'm gonna contradict myself - a quick re-read and I get the point, this is about music in Cantr using current methods, without extra implementation, how it can (and has been) RPd etc. So, yes, a GD topic and seperate from the suggestion topic.
I've changed the topic title so it's clearer as to what this is about - let me know if I got it wrong?
Apologies, link to here added to suggestion topic:
Musical Intruments? where suggestions about possible programmed implementation of music should go (not here...)
It's late...
