I've been sailing for almost 4 years now and nothing. This world is huge!

One of my characters has just began her quest to sail around the world, although from the forums here, someone had mentioned they had a character hit an invisible wall somewhere ...

Good luck.

Funny, both of my exploring characters found new lands within 10 years of traveling.

One of my characters just happened to find a new land 5 days ago after traveling for over 4 years by sloop. Many interesting things have happened, but will wait a few days before I can talk about them. Land seems to be very uncommon out there (compared to the vast amount of water at least), and the Cantr oceans are very large.

It's very hard to know how far aprt land is since our horizon is so limited. My exploring character has found 3 continents. The first one had nothing on it because it had not been populated. The other 2 I couldn'y find any harbor where I could dock my sloop. I've been disappointed with exploratin discoveries. It is possible that after 6 or 7 years exploring (maybe more) I won't have gathered as much as a piece of hide from a foreign land without starving. :?

The real world took some time to map in it's entirety, and even longer to have it done accuratly, and then, to have that maps become widespread took even longer.

Then again, it is supposed to be a gameworld.

I've heard that Cantr is a torus (rectangular with wrap-around at the edges).

You heard wrong ... we've put a lot of work into programming the Cantr Rim, where the great world ocean falls down into the bottomless abyss which is Cantr Hell , a bitter land ruled by new spawn note thieves where boats can dock to docked boats and locks randomly disappear. A land where iron crumbles to dust before you can make it and string comes in 40 varieties all of which are useless, unless you stumble across an old hoard of stinrg which will make you more powerful than the gods themselves.

Mack Rogue (no one knows him) spent his entire life on a boat sailing from Siom in a darter. He had to be sailing over a real life year without seeing land. He finally started to run out of food and found land. He circled a large land mass without finding one city to dock in. Finally he died of starvation.

As I understand it, Sloops can dock to land, and don't need docks. If you couldn't find anywhere to do, doesn't that mean a bug?

No, it was probably back when the New Lands department was in the process of making new islands. Islands were added before they were finished, so there were no harbors to prevent people from docking and having weird things happen.

From what I understand, that process is completed now, so every island should have ports.

No. I just left one of those lands a week or two ago. I could see cities but couldn't dock. Same with the island I'm floating around this very day.

There was a bug reported about something like that happening...

Alternatively, I noticed on Burgeo that unless you are literally right on top of a harbor, you can't see it. Perhaps your boat is just too fast, and you're sailing right by the ports or are too far off shore. Burgeo ports you have to actually almost beach yourself before you can see them, which is easy when someone else is docked, but not so easy when they aren't. The surviors spent several days looking for the Burgeo port even though they knew roughly where it was.
