howdy folks am new around here just thought i'd say hi and ask which area do i put my bumd noob questions to be answered ?

This is probably the place. Although I would almost recommend not trying to find answers... It accelerates the onset of Cantr Schizophrenia as you try to distinguish in character knowlege from out of character knowlege.

And I haven't even been here that long...

There are a lot of characters in the game who love to show off what they know "in character"...

But you can ask here too...
There is just a limit on what should be said...

ok well what i guess i need to know is if there's anything that i should do right away like make 500 char's up or dig a grave so as to save someone time later or anything lol
i'm guessing a hammer would be handy for making things but how do i get one

Well, it's pretty easy to figure out how to make a hammer or anything like that, you would use the build command and a hammer is classified as a tool..if you have one of your chars ask for help usually there's at least one person there who'll help you get started [sometimes, I'm the self-appointed newb caretaker *sigh*]
I don't think graves can be pre-dug, but maybe.
And you can only make 15 chars, but I recommend no more than 2 until you have a pretty good handle of the game.

also i saw that there was a irc chat site for the game but th couple of times i've tried it no one was there is there a time that ppl go there or is it usually dead ?

Usually dead though I think I downloaded it the wrong way so I'm not really sure.

Welcome to Cantr. Yes, it's true, we once had the plan to maintain a registered IRC channel. But htere was hardly ever any activity on it, so we lost interest in it.
If you have problems in the game, that you can't resolve 'in character', then you can always send a PM to me, using this forum, or you can send a mail to players@cantr.net.
The Players Department will gladly assist you with your problems. There's also a newbie guide somewhere in the General Discussion forum, I think. Maybe David will be able to provide you with a link to it.

Kill them? The only character I got that would kill them for no reason at all might be Sester Gartaf. Most of the rest of my characters are somewhat nice and friendly. Well, maybe except for one or two. On that is a theif and considers killing a waste of resources. Kill people and you can't steal from them anymore. The other is pretty nasty too but he works as a mercenary so he only kills for his pride or if someone pays him enough.

But don't you worry. I'll find out who your characters are.

just wondering but is there a list of what's needed to make everything or anything like that for this game ?

No list .. though someone was thinking about making one
Just the invidual entries when you go to start them
Takes up a few minutes to look thorugh them all

Things that require machines to make are not listed there
You have to find the machine in the game or ask someone for those things

Consider the having to look up each project's resource list as your char having to draw up plans for it first. That's why people who have already made it can just tell you if you ask. As it is, I'm going to have a few chars who have to reinvent the crossbow or something >.<

ummmmmm out of curiosity when do you get more time back to continue playing since i kinda forgot to log out and a fair whack of my time dissappeared lol

Ouch...about 3AM EST, unless the server is dead at that time. If you find yourself away unexpectedly for any period of time, just log out or close the window before you do ANYTHING and your minutes will not be eaten.
