So what are you calling locations?

Maybe this is a bit early but I don't see how this could hurt anybody. Since the namewipe, for a couple of characters the location they are in is simply called Home. For one, I think I named something "The place we left from" as I don't remember what it was called and I don't really care.

Most places keep their original names, but for example Zhift forest is now just The Forest for my character, since it's the only forest he's ever seen so why would it need a special name?

One was about to be called "The nearest source of limestone to Blojt" but then I figured that's a bit too thick when there is an established society and they call themselves with the old name so what the hey...

And my Swedish character now calls his current location Båt Strand (boat shore), another place is Ris Åker (rice field - I hope I spelled it right) and another one is Skogen (the forest). The world suddenly looks much better than with the old names I never learned to remember.

I can see trouble in finding the way home, for many characters. But luckily most places are inhabited and you can ask the road from others.

So, any funny things, special names you'd like to share?

no I just went through all the location numbers pressing enter before they were changed. No getting lost for me.

My character sailing around Burgeo has never actually met the Survivors guild, so doesn't refer to the island as Burgeo in character. The first place she landed used to be called something like Moistolip, so she's taken to calling it the "Moist Island"

I can only see hiliarity ensuing.

For the most part, I am leaving them alone. Jos' goofball names are part of the magic of Cantr for me. I would hate to lose them. It does add the aspect of multiple names for colony wars though, which is cool, and the mapmakers should find much more purpose in life now. :D I just hope we can keep the jackassery to a minimum and be more creative with new names than a lot of people seem to be with their character names. If someone starts telling me to call someplace Timbuktu or New York or Mordor, I will just say no.

I am sure all of this has been said in those other longwinded threads on the name wipe that I haven't had the energy to read so I will just shut up now.

My German characters will likely Deutsch up the place a bit more...Organiristj Nordfelder (Ost) sounds so much nicer to the ear. :)

I wonder what people will settle on as a proper spelling for Olipifirvash... Olipifiri.. you know what I mean. ;)

That and Ladavictavoi. Try saying either of those five times fast!
