another useless way to gain ooc info obscurely

I noticed that in the people section, the names are listed in a somewhat alphabetical order, but interspersed are the people who's names you don't know as well as the poeple you don't know the real names of. From this I'm inferring that the names in the people page are placed in alphabetical order based on the characters' registered names, not on their dynamic name. This means that with fairly complete knowledge of the names in a town, you could guess the first letter of the name of someone new. You could also tell if someone is giving a false name (although they may use a different name than registered all the time).
This is sort of useless, like the long range communication through injuring someone, but I thought it was interesting.

Untrue. If you change the name of your character to what you want it to be it should change its position in the peoples list. But you need to change the name of the character for this to happen.

Right, if you change the name of your own character, you've change the characters registered name. I meant if you had a character who you called Jim but was known by everyone else as Dan. By dynamic name and registered name, I meant the name you call other characters and the name they call themself.

If you change your personal name it changes your place on the list...I've done that to avoid animal attacks. sneaky but effective. Instead of Aadrenaline the Xth, for example (no that's not a real name) i'd name myself Haadreneline the xth. saves you from getting attacked as often. Tricky, eh?
then there's always the trick of naming yourself
AAAAAAAAA EMPEROR SUNGOD PETE
so everyone sees your name first.

Are you sure your character is safe from the animals?

safer.
they used to mainly attack characters near the top or bottoms of the lists.
when there's a few vicious animals...like a one or two horse town.
they'll go for the ends first.
But it's a moot point now. No animal's gonna mess with this now.

Yes, we definitely should change this and have the list order by date of registration (= age). That info is available anyway, it becomes easy to see who's oldest, and one can not infer anything about someones name. I'll do it asap

But then most of my characters will be at the top of the list and people ill be able to find them out.
Then again it's not like people don't already know who they are anyway though Chrissy did believe that I was Jonathan Russell for a time.

We know how you can obtain a character's real name. Just didn't get to it yet.
