Does Coke have a purpose?
I used to think that coke was needed for Aluminum production. I am not 100% positive, but I don't think that is the case anymore(if it ever was). Could someone please reassure me that coke can be used for something.

I'm in the Resource Department and I can't even reassure you.
There might be a use but in order for me to look it up would mean going through large databases which would take forever. I'll ask around in the Resource Department and see if I can get an answer but I wouldn't hold my breath on that as it is almost impossible to a get a straight answer anymore.
The only other thing I can suggest is try to look at the Cantr Wiki and see if anyone had posted a use for coke yet.

It is my understanding that "Coke" has no current use yet, but that it was at one time going to be part of the iron and steel (or perhaps just steel) production (it is used for that purpose in real life). As of right now, I believe that the RD is waiting for a later time to introduce coke into some process (it was talked about being used in gaint sized smelters for increased productivity, which now is no longer needed due to the smelting rate change). RD, please correct me if I am wrong about any of the things that I have said, but this is what I have gathered from reading the forums.

I was never involved in the iron change but I do believe that coke was in the game long before that change was made. But there have been many things added by Resources to the game with a certain purpose that never got finished (due to many factors such as change of leadership/direction and those members working on the project no longer being around for whatever reason). Some things we can't finish because no one knows that is around now what the original intentions were or it was used and has since had its use taken away or the direction of Resources changed (which happens more often than not it seems) and the project is abandoned or it could be quite simply the players haven't figured out the use and the original creators of it have since left and the current Resource members don't have a bloody clue and simply don't want to have to wade through a huge database to find out.
But as a general rule, once things have been added to the game we do not take them out especially if they have been in there a long time. I think the idea behind that is that many players may have already produced a coke oven and produced a bit of coke and suddenly it is taken out and the players feel cheated somehow. So until the current Resource members can either come up with something to use it with or figure out what the original creators intended it will stay like that.

Chris was the one who orchestrated the infamous iron change that rocked Cantr so long ago (yes, players did not like this change either, like many, many changes in the past). I do not believe he is an active member of the Cantr forums at least and is no longer a member of the Resource Department but if someone can contact him and ask him then that would be great.

I confirm that coke currently has no in-game function.

I just realised that water has been taken out (http://www.cantr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6087) and as far as I understand it can still be used, if it was there..
