Let's just kill successful chars and be done with it...

This is, simply put, an all out rant.

Why is it that no character seems to be allowed to succeed? Just because they work hard and have tools and resources because theyy are older and have worked for them... let's make their tools rot. Let's make it so they can't defend themselves. Let's make it so newspawns are even with them.

Why the hell should that be? Because players have been playing longer? There is nbow no advantage to the expensive boat I spent years building. It is slower than a sloop. It has absolutely no security. Let's all build sloops and dinghys! Let's penalise those successful people who managed to build big ships by making the smaller ones better because the newspawns are too lazy to work, or even get a job that'd get them on a ship.

Isn't it funny how successful older characters are now awkward at things they've spent their life on? Isn't it funny that their tools rot, just because the newspawns are jealous of those people having them. Why don't we make it so every newspawn can just take things from the older characters? There is no advantage to being successful.

I find it highly amusing that changes are made to 'stimulate trade in Cantr' are promptly following by changes that kill it by screwing those people who try to trade. One step forward, ten steps back.

pes·si·mism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (ps-mzm)

n. 1. A tendency to stress the negative or unfavorable or to take the gloomiest possible view: ?We have seen too much defeatism, too much pessimism, too much of a negative approach? (Margo Jones).
2. The doctrine or belief that this is the worst of all possible worlds and that all things ultimately tend toward evil.
3. The doctrine or belief that the evil in the world outweighs the good.

p.s. Surly, we do have a handful of rant topics already up. Must we really clutter the entire General Discussion area with such anger?

All hail Presidente Jos and the National Reconciliation Junta! Long live the revolution! Long live the Great Leap Forward!

By the way, we are renewing the State of Emergency and elections are suspended indefinitly.

:P I'm fine. My characters are not especially old but fourty is old for me and they're mostly not successful but the ones who have wealth (Jaina and Hannah) they trade and they donate successfully and get respect.

Of course your tools rot away if you're an old grumpy hermit who doesn't hire people to do repairs, you sit on a load of iron and steel and won't give it to people in need because they would use it to make weapons against you! No one could have gathered wealth like that alone, it was a weird golden age that's now gone. Over. You can't expect to keep the treasures without taking care of them. And do you really need them all? Well, at least iron doesn't still rust. Maybe they should add that too. No, seriously. That would be logical.

I agree that big ships should be faster but at least they have more room for cargo. And hey, maybe they implement sails that can be added afterwards, how are you supposed to row a giant bathtub all by yourself, huh?

Yes, yes, and ships should decompose over time, and weather should make sailing less predictable. Winds, especially, could take you off course, and rain could ruin your cargo.

Just because galleons had large sails doesn't mean it was fastest. it needed them because it was biggest. It needed a lot of wid to be able to push it through the water.

Meh...I really don't like my successful chars anyway. I much prefer the newspawns. I wish I could just cancel my account every time my chars turn 30 and start over. But I'd probably get in trouble and I would also miss my boats.

Is there some word that implies both crabbyness and pessimism. I think that would fit our boy best. And he was such a sweet, sweet DJ. I don't understand.

Why can't our chars be automatically issued Cantr money when they spawn and then they could go to the boat store and pick out a shiny new boat? It makes perfect sense to me.

I think the adding of skills is somewhat good, but it should not have affected the older Charries as much as it did...Now...before someone yells at me...I understand this is a society simulater...but a blacksmith that has smithed for thirty years...c'mon...now he is awkward? I don't see that logic....I don't understand programing much either... But it would have made more logic...that anyone over XX years wouldn't recieve novice or awkward....yea yea...can't program that right? Tools.... Why is it that it takes 19 hours to repair a bone knife and 6 to repair my bow?

The changes only adversely affect succesful characters who have made it on their own... Which is a shame, as that defines my most succesful character - but I'm ok with that, as in general, I prefer the moves that encourage co-operation.

No... the changes adversely affect older characters. All of them, regardless. Even if you have made you life with a group, it doesn't change the fact you are now unskilled at your job, and cannot defend yourself. And woebetide you if your group was a shipping company...

Yes, Galleons never were and were never meant to be fast.

They were just meant to be big.

No, you just got really horrible rotten luck with your older characters.
