Just a thought...

I think it would be great if some of the staff or some rich characters got together and built a galleon and some longboats. These longboats would be docked (I don't know how many you can dock to one boat) to the galloen.
Then they fill the ship with riches like jewlery, iron, steel, coal, limestone, the best healing food ect ect. After that, get one guy (Jos maybe *shrugs*) have a lone character sail it out, out, out all the while keeping track of his movements untill he dies and the ship and riches move no longer...
Then his record of movements would become a "treasure map"... It could then be scattered through out the entirety of Cantr or even several seperate ones for other language areas that are used.

Just a thought...

Like the Spanish Treasure Fleet?
NAH, Jos isn't Spanish.
Let alone is he willing to BREAK THE CAPITAL RULE.
I don't think adding teasure ships into the game by "godly" influence will ever happen. However, if an actually RICH character did this, that'd be fine.
They'd sacrifice themselves for sport, I guess. Oh, and who would distribute the maps? HMM?

Yes I know that either way for this to work the CR would have to broken.
Either by people doing it mostly OOC (organization and stuff) or doing it all IC and then taking the coordanates and distributing them OOC with one or more characters different characters.
Have the character carry enough food for a set amount of days there and the trip back on a dinghy? I dunno...
I also figured that Jos probably wouldn't entertain the idea. As the title suggests, it's just a thought.
If you think about it though, you could divide the map into four pieces by writing different parts of it on four different notes and spread them on four of the major islands in cantr. One piece per island.

...One piece per island?
You'd need a lot more than 4 pieces, buddy.

I edited my last post as well:

There may be 4 major islands to you, an English speaking individual, but are you being prejudice against the non-English speaking that might want the treasure as well? A lot more than 4 MAJOR islands

I disagree
It could then be scattered through out the entirety of Cantr or even several seperate ones for other language areas that are used.
And by major I mean 4 most populated, most used, oldest... Take your pick... Whatever makes an island major.

There'd still be more than four.
Polish players almost match the number of English speaking ones. Almost! And if Polish players don't spawn on English lands, well then...? See my point?

I'm sorry to have to weigh in so one-sidedly on this issue, because as fun as it sounds this should be orchestrated solely in character and without any out of character (staff) intervention. The same should hold true for any IC Cantr entertainment event, whether it is a race or anything else.

Well I'd sacrifice one of my charcters If they were old and about to die anyway and do it all IC but there are really two problems wth this.
I've never really had a rich character and who would be able to be trusted enough to bring my map back to shore and spread it around?
Most cantrians have proven to be greedy.

Why would you have to sacrifice your character? He/she just undocks and sails a longboat back. The only thing needed to sacrifice is all his riches. Then he can drop the map at each town on the water, til he hits them all. Trouble is, how will he ever know if someone finds his treasure ship?

He won't know. But if no one does then it isn't like it'll disappear.. It'll be out there hidden for years upon years.
Does a boat continue to move after the person inside dies?

Yep. Unless it smacks a landmass, of course. I wonder how many boats out there are just beached, waiting to be opened up...

Quite a few. I have a character who's found all sorts of awesome stuff by sailing around a lake in a dinghy.

Ya it would definatly have to be done in the ocean and not a lake...
