Books!

O_o I have an idea!
What if people wrote stories of their characters, from a first or third person view, and we had them all published together in a little series, with each book focusing on one area or event that the characters were involved in.
Only catch, so as to avoid any CR problems, is that the character the story is about must be dead already...
It could be sold to help promote Cantr, and to remember long gone characters. There could even be a little disclaimer that tells readers what they read in the book is not what their character would immediately know if they were to play the game.
:)

<.< I already know of a few publishing companies that let people make books without too much trouble... ( www.publishamerica.com )

Now there's a reason to enjoy that my most interesting characters are dead. Wait... I hope you're not after just the big and important and famous dead Cantrians..?

Any cantrians... You know, even newspawn note thieves have helped affect the world in some way or another. XD Imagine, a one paragraph or one page poem-story of the life of a note thief in such and such land.
Every trader, every soldier, every worker, every politician, every lovesick romantic has a story to tell. :)

I've been playing with this idea and have wrote some but you do have to make up some stuff to fill in the gaps which is hard to do as times.

I would also love to do a webcomic but I need someone that can draw.

Well, Rkl (you are rkl, right?), if, for example, one book were focused on Noniwrok, there would be stories from the people of Kwor, Karnon, Kirinn, and any areas in between. :) Or from a certain time period in the area... You'd see pretty much the same island-wide events from all views. And each character has their own story, like how things affected them from the groups they were in, etc... How they helped change the world.

If something were focused on the age of seafaring in Noniwrok, you'd see things from Margera, Weasf Hervca, and maybe the Survivors, too...

If something were focused on the start of Kirinn, maybe you'd see Klug, Zulu, the start of the tribes, and stories about the horses and pelicans?

If something were focused in the krif area, I believe, there would be stories from the Mac Gregors, Rangers, and others in the area... >.>

My god, K-island has an interesting history. It would make for a good movie...

Yeah, I know but to get a really detailed story going you would need to add some character, places, events, etc... that don't exist in the Cantr world.

I have been writng a story surrounding my most infamous character Sester Gartaf. When I am finished with I might enter it to the Cantr Webzine.

Anyways, I never knew my character Weasf Hercva was a great explorer. If anyone does write anything on this character they should know that Hercva had a split personality of Richard Connor. Connor was stupid almost retarded like while Hercva was educated and intelligent. That was a fun character to play until the elephant got him.
:D

And yes, I am rklenseth. Some people haven't figured that out yet.

I have been toying with the idea of a general OOC novel ever since I made an entrance into IC writing, poetry and other cultural escapades. I don't think the plot I have so thoroughly thought about in my head is something that will make it onto paper, at least, not anytime soon, as it is too grand and too large. Hopefully not giving the plot away, but it would center around an imaginary (yet feasible) conflict between the two largest regions of a certain continent in Cantr (Pok Island). Since it is based on a scenario that hasn't occured yet, it would be taking this plot and letting the characters who would define tomorrow (the lieutenants and the promising ones of the current generation, as the current leaders would be close to passing by then) be the ones who make the faithful decisions for their groups based on their personality. As the book progresses, of course, the decisions they make will also help to impact their personalities all the same. It would center around the two largest groups facing off, with proxy conflicts through out the lands, adopting different styles of warfare. Also, there would be a romantic, comedic and other elements within this frame. Such a vast cast of characters from so many different groups, in the correct geographical environment, would be a very interesting read, in my opinion.

Honestly, I don't believe I have the writing skill nor capacity to capture this plot in the scale I would like to see it be done in. :?

If anyone does have any stories written about Cantr, either from the perspective of a character or another perspective, they'd be more than welcome on the 'zine. We've already got a couple due for the next issue (very soon folks - promise!)

This is the sort of thing the 'zine was designed for - and which I'd love to see more of - some hisrories of different areas in Cantr was one of the suggestions I really liked to begin with, but am surprised hasn't taken off.

I guess it would be a large logistical problem - as most people only know the history via a handful of characters - getting a balance may be somewhat hard. But no need not to have a go :)

In real life, history is written by the victors.

In cantr, even the losers have a say, because their players stick around and reminisce on the forums
