and once land has been discovered, does a spawn point get placed on it?

That'd be wild.

Checked the map. Nobody is anywhere close to the new lands yet. And no, we wouldn't hurry.

And yes, I believe a couple of spawning locations will be placed on it.

That'd be one hell of a coincidence, wouldn't it?

I don't have enough money to buy a winter coat, here in sunny Chicago.

No, land development is not based on sailors :) ... Sometimes, when I see a sailor approaching land that I did not put locations on yet, I will hurry to do so, but I am not creating islands just for that purpose ;) ... So sailors can just not be very lucky and miss all interesting points :) ...

Also, the fact that an island has been discovered is not necessarily a reason to put spawning locations on it. In fact, it would be cooler if you could just set up a colony. And for that we need two things, that are being planned: 1) the ability to get children on a non-spawning location; 2) the ability to dock without a harbour, for which it is necessary to dock a small vessel (e.g. a longboat) on a larger one. (So that you can bring the small vessel, sail with a faster boat to explore, and once you see land, can undock the small vessel and get on the land.)

My sailor only has a longboat...which means it's going to take forever to get anywhere unless he gets a bigger boat.

and incidentally--does the speed of docking depend on how many people you have on board?

it would be good if that were true, and if changing direction was easier with more "crew"
