What do you think?

I think it ought to be closely linked with hunting skills. It makes no sense at all if your excellent bowmanship makeds you deadly against lions, but you turn out to be hopeless at inflicting damage on people with the very same weapon, does it?

Yes, it doesn't make sense that one can be awkward in hunting and expert in hitting people for example.

One of my chars thought she'd be good at attacking people because she was good at hunting, but it was not to be.

It's strange that hunting and attacking dont' seem to be connected.

Other than that, I like the new implementation.

I tottally agree with that, I mean if you say... hunted lions, deer or what ever with a crossbow youd probally get better with the crossbow and accuracy etc. and once you get better your gonna be just as good hunting people as you are hunting animals  . as you said I think hunting should overall just increase combat skills, If your using a weapon at least.

I prefered Cantr before they were implemented, but since it's obvious we're stuck with them now I voted that they'd be okay as long as adjustments were made.

To me it would be prefereable if everyone started with the same base skills, with the ability to improve them over a period of time. A long period of time, mind you, to get away from the hack 'n slash effect. Maybe even make it so that skill improvements only happened once a year, depending on what that person spent most of their time doing. (Don't know how difficult that would be to keep track of though.)

Either way, a person that spends a long time working at a certain profession, whether it be chopping wood or gathering potatoes or fighting would gradually improve, but we wouldn't see these drastic differences that we're seeing now. It just doesn't make sense for some random newspawn with a primitive bow to be twice as good as a forty year old with a saber who's spent his entire life hunting.

You should include the option.

'I don't like it but I think with some adjustments I might.'

No.

I hate combat skills. I really do. I hate the way that attacking lots of people makes you better as well. I believe some kind of training project would be much better for Cantr.

I hate combat skills. I everyway.

Why not?

Why does it have to be so exactly realistic in this way? Why not have hunting and fighting skills split, since they are just quite different parts of the game. You could imagine extra things like you ability to be quiet so that an animal doesn't run away or something ...

... I mean, I can see it's not entirely realistic, but it seems better for gameplay to split the two and I can't really see the big deal.

Besides, it's very easy to implement a skill, but a bit annoying to remove it, I think :) ... Although, nah, that's not true, maybe *thinks* ...

I like it. I think fighting and hunting are completely different. Maybe not by the mechanics of this game since all you have to do is press a button. But, in real life, they are completely different.

Depends what kind of combat your talking about. But hunting for other people would be just the same as for animals.

The difference should be balistic combat and close combat. They are different.

Physical strength characteristic partially links them, according to the Wiki.

Yeah, there's a big difference between crawling through the woods after an animal and shooting some guy standing in front of you. That difference may not be apparent in Cantr because of the way it's designed, but it should be implied, as it is.

Perssonally, I like the combat system just the way it is, everything seems to be in balance. The only thing that looks like it may need adjusted is the rate that skills increase but I'm not sure about that yet.
