Tool Weapons

I was just browsing around the wiki, and I never realized how many tools could double as weapons. Anybody know how they hold up against real weapons?
I kind of like the idea...say some peaceful town was attacked by an army or something and fended them off with nothing but farming implements like pickaxes and shovels. Not likely to happen in Cantr, (mainly because any place with access to those kind of tools would also have access to iron and steel weapons) but it's occasionally been known to happen in RL, and would definitely make for a nice dramatic story in Cantr...
(And you could just as easily see things happen the other way...a group from a seemingly nice, peaceful business comes into town carrying screwdrivers and chisels, and then proceeds to take over the place.

)
Of course I have no clue if the damage done is in any way comparable, but all these multi-pupose tools have definitely become a lot more valuable in my eyes.

They do minimal damage at best.
Although most people could do considerable damage to my characters anyway now. It's not like their shields block anything any more.

The only tool I've used that's worth it's salt as a weapon is the scythe. It does 1 or 2 points less than a composite recurve bow. (I don't think that needs to be kept a secret anymore, eh?)
I do like shovels and screwdrivers as weapons, just because they're silly.

Quite right. Scythes are deadly things... hell of a lot more dangerous than billy clubs.
Speaking of which, did the RD ever consider my proposal for grouping weapons (subdual, blugeoning and piercing)?

I am quite sure I could dodge a sledge hammer attack.

Okay... so ... what kind of damage does it do

Axes do just a tad bit less damage then a longbow, and pickaxes do just a bit more then a longbow.

Shovels are about as useful as a fist. Dosen't seem quite right to me. But oh well.

First of all, this wouldn't be an RD issue as we can't program. We just manage the databases and use the programming that already exists. You would need to talk to programming and from my understanding this isn't a high priority for them at the moment.
Second, I would eventually like to see that as well as a way to determine between a light, medium, or heavy weapon which can determine the effectiveness of the weapon vs. shield and/or weapon vs. armor. but as I said, such programming is very low on programming list as to my understanding in this but only a programming staff member can truly answer that question.

Not sure it absolutely requires programming. I think a balance between damage and the chance of going through the shield as well as dealing tiredness as well as damage...
actually that might need some programming. But not very much, surely?

We couldn't do that without further programming.

Yeah, I understand.
Shame, because reforming weapons would be much more effective than screwing shields over.

Yea, reforming weapons and fixing the whole low defence shield thing would be a great change..... And um how good is a whip?
