I was hoping I could find something that showed the avg. damage for each weapon ... Any sudjustions?. Btw I found a topic about the most populated cities in Cantr but does any one know like the least populated towns/villages?... or cities.

Some locations have no residents (deserts, mountains, unexplored lands).
Usually the complexity of building a weapon, (i.e. materials, time) all contribute to how effective it shall be, skills and tiredness aside.
So you could assume a longbow will be better than a bone club, since a longbow requires wood and bowstring (and that process) whilst a bone club just puts together some raw materials.

Iron is the great Currency in Cantr. If you understand this basic principle, a lot of things will make more sense. It is the hardest resource to acquire (many newspawns start out asking "does NE1 have NE IRON?!?!?" and get slapped hard for it, because, well.... it can take years to get iron).
The more iron it requires to make, the better it is. Steel is Iron++.
Billy club: It's okay. About the same as a boomerang or a slingshot. Simple weapons, but better than a fist. Iron shod will boost it up a bit. Steel weapons are better still, and so on and so forth.
The first thing a newspawn should do is read the notes on the ground, as there may be a way to obtain a few starting resources and food quickly and easily, and you might be able to copy a map or two or three.

I always the read the notes and I have ben playing for about a week, and already have about 5 charecters, I pretty much know the basics and I dont think im considered a newspawn any more. So... My main charecter I play most is in Djorf (sorry havn't gotten names down yet). Where would the nearest local be that has iron as a natural resource?

First off, the locations of said materials would have to be found out in game.

You can use maps or word of mouth to figure it out.
And second off, as Mortaine gave away, iron isn't found raw, but requires machines to refine. This data is excerpted from the Hobbes Encyclopedia, and is now available to the player through cantr's wiki.

Therefore, it is usually easier to get when working together, or working for a larger organization that has access to it.

Iron isn't a natural resource... it is made with various resources... and to find out where any of the resources needed are, you'd need to consult an IC map...
Newspawn generally refers to characters that are young (should I hazard a guess of under 21-22 or so?), not necessarily how long the player behind the characters has played....

From a bone spear? Probably a longbow, but that is just a guess. Bone spears in my experience are one of the higher damage simple weapons. As has been mentioned, a general rule of thumb is that the more steel a weapon takes, the more powerful it is, and the longer it takes to make (including all of the parts and such) the more powerful it is. This said, you can look through the weapon list and find the weapons that take the most time and steel (claymore, battle axe, crossbow, and longsword to name a few), which are probably the most powerful weapons.

I think bone spear does about the same as longbow. At least I have one character that does more damage with a bone spear than many others do with a longbow. I think average weapon strenghts should go in the Wiki (which I haven't checked out yet).

The problem with making the damage tables explicit is munchkinisation! With pen and paper games, certain players would spend hours poring over the charts trying to find loop holes that would give them a statistical advantage without any thought to characterisation... not really the Cantr way of approaching things.

Seko, are you sure the character with the spear doesn't just happen to have higher skills than the others? Or have you tried him/her with a longbow too?

I had a char who *seemed* to have different stats with ranged and melee weapons...for example, he did 22 damage with a longbow but only 24 with a sabre. That doesn't seem right, to me. Unless the database recognizes a distinction between ranged and melee, and has separate skills for each?
RKL, any help here?
Also I noticed that ranged weapons tended to do better against some things than melee...desert tortoises for example. Is my mind just playing tricks on me?

West; I know as much about the skill system as everyone else. Only Jos can answer questions about concerning skills. Sorry but no help from me.
Concerning a damage graph; I will fight and hope that one is never published outside of Cantr. This is something that I really believe should be left in the game and be of only in game knowledge. Yes, I set the damage average of every weapon and there is a way I go about this concerning rarity of materials used to make, how long it takes to make, and weapon type (ie; light, heavy, and medium). So from that info you should be able to figure out what weapons have a higher average of damage though you must remember there are many more factors concerned when adding up damage.

There is however at least two of these things in game that I have seen, so you can find out in game quite easily.

Here's a newbie question for you: Anyone know how a bagh-nakh compares to a primitive bow? Couldn't find it in the wiki.
