Lucky characters

Postby SekoETC » Sun Jun 19, 2005 2:45 pm

Do you have especially lucky characters? My characters are usually terribly unlucky, their friends keep dying, they're bothered by criminals and so on. But thinking about what has happened to one of my characters during the last few years I realized he's been blessed.

Once he came to a location with just one person, a woman. An hour later the woman dropped dead. He took her clothes and praised his god for the gift. So he now has hemp pants, tunic and a coat. But he doesn't use the tunic because he hasn't quite gotten used to the feeling of having clothes.

Anyway, then he went to another place and was grilling meat outside when a guy comes outside from a house and drops two keys. Says he's tired of sitting inside and wants to go travelling, you can take those if you like. My character wasn't going to at first but then he picked them up and went inside, just to look around, and fell asleep as I ran out of minutes. So it looks like he's settled there.

He decided to make a cot because at that time tiredness still meant something. So he asked outside if anyone has a needle (there was like one or two people) and one woman loaned him a bone needle. But by the time he had finished the cot, she had already left.

In the house there's a smelting furnace (not primitive), and a curing tub. So he went to get salt. Then he made leather. Then he made himself a pair of shoes. Then he went to a forest and traded leather and limestone for hematite and a pile of stone and gathered wood and coal. Then he went back and made a stone table and crushed the hematite, well most of it. Then he made iron. Someone had taken his limestone stash but he's not really mad about it, because the limestone he had also found from the ground. (There had been such a big load he couldn't even carry it all.)

Also, recently he went out and found a dead woman and some primitive tools. But he doesn't quite know what to do with them because he has doubles already. At first he just left the woman there but then someone walked past and stole her hide bikini so he decided to bury her after all.

Also even though there are loads of animals around, he rarely gets attacked and his wooden shield usually blocks all the damage even though recently there was a pesky boar. But someone killed it. He's usually lucky in hunting too even though only wielding a longbow and has been wounded for a long time.

I think the most of my chars usually live average lives. They're neither very unlucky or neither very lucky. Always in the middle.

Yeah. Bibbin (Seatown Lakeside). Bibbin's lucky because nobody killed him when he was newly-spawned, and he's somehow befriended the very active and awake town leaders.

I completely expected Bibbin to be dead before he was 23.

My characters have ended up quite fortunate, in the sense of good friends and family. :) Couldn't ask for more for them, and most of them don't have to worry too much about expenses, either.

But I think you were talking about the greedy/materialistic sense of lucky.

Most of my characters are well settled, with people who care for them, and in some cases they have families. But none have had their livlihood fall into their laps. Most have had to work for it.

My oldest living character was a bit lucky in that he happened to join a town guard as it was just starting up, and then got promoted immediately after the guard commander was accused of thievery. He's been one of the town's leaders ever since.

My character, Pamela, is lucky. Well, in a way. Almost everyone she meets wants to have a relationship with her. She even had an offer from a female LOL.... That Pam is popular.

Most of my characters, like AoM's, got where they are through hard work, with a bit of luck. 8 out of 11 are in their 50s, so I guess I'm lucky that they're still alive, especially T., S., A., and R. Tempestuous political climes, animal attacks, unlucky bouts of sleeping sickness, massacres (and in some cases, vigilantes) failed to kill them. They worked for what they had, (well, most of them...and even for one, killin' is still work, right?) but it was luck that allowed them to keep it.

So yeah. A combination of hard work and luck...essential to any successful man or woman in his/her fifties.

*grins* OOC: "S" is on my personal death list. Kill Bill style. IC: I at least have one character who has an excuse to take him out. (Not that he'll have reason to chase him down any time soon)

On the other hand, "R" has inspired one of my characters to his own place in history.

So I guess you aren't all that bad.

Awww, but S is such a nice guy. Who'd have anything against him?

At least R is somewhat remembered. Somethin' better light a fire under his ass soon, though. He's as boring to me as he is to everyone else, at the mo'.

Hmmm, my luckiest charrie...has nothing to do with material things and everything to do with where she spawned!! She is happy, carefree..loves life..and..that I think is lucky....as for material things...My luckiest is now dead....murdered by the big green X ! Mikahl Found tons of stuff in very dead lands...Then he met Shauna..which made him even luckier!! (RIP)

Edited multiple times for type - o's

*sighs* Yes, Shauna STILL wishes he was alive.. She isn't having the best of luck right now..

As of my lucky chars.. I have a few.. One that is married to Lucky.. *looks at Spider*

Then there is Zach, who is now the Leader of KDF.. but that isn't what he considers lucky.. He has the woman of his dreams.. THAT makes him lucky.

And then there is Kayleigh. After having two men die before their wedding day, she is now happily married, and they adopted a son.. Which is old news if you have a char in LV..

One of my chars got lucky for more then 40 years. Rodger Lancaster was meant to die when he was about 25 because I had too many chars so I wanted his death to be interesting. Unfortunatly, no one he ran across either wanted to mess with a lunatic or had the weapons to even think about doing so. He ended up pilliaging and killing till just a few days before his 70th BD and the only reason he died then is because I killed my account.
