What type of reaction do crazy characters get?

Postby Rand de Blojt » Fri Jun 17, 2005 7:06 pm

I have one crazy char in Seatown but that isn't very much to base any conclusions on. I was wondering what type of response some of your crazy chars might have gotten.

Mine just seems shunned.

Oh, ranters and ravers? No, those aren't much help. People who are creatively crazy, more like eccentric-- they're a boon to Cantr society, I think.

Yes, of course crazy characters benifit Cantr society, as all characters do. I do find some of the silly characters annoying, but of course they add to the game . . .

And thenthere are the crazy characters that talk about strange places like Karnon when they are in Quill Forest, or people who talk about some strange material called hemp when they are in Zhrift Forest. Those people make me grin on occasion but don't really add anything.

I personally support extra-ordinary charecters of all kind,

I believe that without those creative minds, CANTR will turn into a zombie land with a lot of footsoldiers, Just think of the movies you see or novels you read, always those extra ordinary charecters will leave a taste on your tongue (I am not sure if this is the way it is said in English, I just translate it from Turkish directly :D )

Go Crazy boys/girls GO...

(I try to RP a lot of those maniac charecters, but my poor english blocks them a little, but it improves day by day  )

I said yes but I really mean "It depends."

Crazy can be annoying if it's poorly done but fabulous if someone is really inventive and does it well.

I think a lot of the players who've been around for a while cringe a little when a new crazy person pops up (or a roving evangelist ). But if they turn out to be interesting that's great.

Ditto, we once had a wave of third person speaking characters at the same time, so it got real old, real quick.

I don't care if they're crazy. I'll tell you what matters is creativity, imagination and uniqueness. If it's been done before, doing it again isn't really going to make a name for yourself.

he I used to have a crazy character for a while...ppl started to give him jobs to make him go elsewhere...though a couple of times ppl made the mistake of giving him important jobs...and a few ppl got locked up because of him...so obviously he made a fairly big impact on the society

The hardest part in playing an, ahem, eccentric character is finding people to play against. My lady is very innocent, gullible and playful but that doesn't work well in places where no one talks.

And I like playing her when someone new pops up. I had her in a town where one of the newspawn 'clones' showed up. She thought he said he was a clown. Sigh. I wish I could have heard more responses to that but it was time for her to move on.

And I must know... Does anyone in Blotj miss her? I promise to keep the information to myself! :D

Yes! She kept the town lively and fun, and kept Foo Foo active.......someone for her to play with. But no, I don't play Foo Foo, if you're wondering.

I agree, crazy is great, if rp'd well. Take for instance Siom, yesterday. That's all I can say though, but good job to the player of...."edited due to four day rule".

I like crazy that develops over time, is well thought out, and well rp'd. Damn hard to cure those types, though. The potatoe cure just doesn't seem to cut it. :P
