This is not a comprehensive list, so feel free to post any others that you can think of!
-When you have 15 characters and want more
-When you find yourself waking up early to catch the 5 AM tick
-When you start scheduling your entire day around the lives of your characters, and the tick times
-When your none of your characters ever spend even an hour idle
-When Cantr starts adversely affecting your work/school
-When all of your dreams and nightmares are about your Cantr characters
-When people start claiming that you have given up on society (what do they know anyway?)
-When you realize that you often check your characters every 15 minutes
-When you finally get around to making an account in the forum
-When you know spend more time talking to people in the forum then you do talking to your "friends" (assuming of course that you have not managed to talk your friends into playing Cantr)

When you see topics like this, and realise you've already seen them three years ago on the old forums.
But no one knows what you're talking about, because you're such an oldbie...
*sigh*

When you've learn to accept the characters that roam these forums.
Strange as they may be.

I ran a quick search of the current database just to be sure that I was not bringing up something that shows up on these forums every couple of months or so, but since you seem to remember something like this on the old forum which was not carried over, perhaps it is not a terrible thing to have it return?

*shrugs*
Don't mind the oldbies. Only a small percentage of forumers here would have seen the old topic.
Let me see, who was on the old forums that's still around...
Me, RKL, West, Brandon, Solfius, Creepyguyinblack, SekoETC (I think?)
(oh and of course, all of the high ranking staff... but they don't forum much)

When you realize Nick is needlessly flaunting his oldbie status and you can point out this topic at least twice on these forums.
When you walk away from a conversation without saying anything only to come back and spout out your lengthy and carefully composed thought. (Wouldn't want to run down those minutes.)
When you actually try to eat a raw potato.
When you get all giddy about finding a file in your tool set, and you make plans to rent out you precise key filing services at exorbitant fees.
I never was very good at these...

Eat me. Do you have a problem with me? Then contact the PD. Otherwise, **** off. I'm not going to brush off attacks like that anymore. I never said anything to you before, so you have some nerve to come out of nowhere and insult me. Idiot.

- when you purchase an item because it reminds you of Cantr
- when you rush home on your lunch hour, just to check your Charries
- when specific places remind you of a place in Canter (such as Olip Forest)

Hey. I remember that topic. That was way way way back in the olden times. Back when tiredness was the thing you got when you stayed up late playing cantr and my people didn't swing sabres like a man with both arms amputated. Man those were the good times

You know you've been playing for too long when everyone thinks you've been there for longer than you actually are. (I wasn't on the yahoo forums, I only joined about a year ago and this is my first account. I don't know why this thing pops up every once in a while.)
And indeed you're addicted when you start topics like this. (Here's mine:
http://www.cantr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3049 )
And you know you're seriously addicted when you should be studying for exams of which one is tomorrow and I'm still sitting here... No chance of studying the book thoroughly for Wednesday's exam. (Good thing I read it once this spring although I don't remember much of it.)

- When you start refering to real people as "a man in his twenties"
- When you wonder why the real world isn't green and orange.
- When you try to click on someone to find out about them.
- When you get your laptop out in the middle of a real conversation to check up on your characters.

This one's probably the best. (and oldest I can find, on this forum)
