Massacres

What happened to all the massacres? Used to be quite regular occurances but I haven't heard of one for ages.

One of these will doubtless be the answer:
1) The measures taken by programming to limit the ability of one character to permit massacres are actually working.
2) The player(s) responisble for the massacres have been caught and dealt with.
3) The PD has been successful in warding off any CRB massacres by monitoring accounts.
4) Massacres are still occurring, but now they are IC (such as piracy. Although I have my doubts sometimes...) and people have less reason to moan about them on the forum.
I'm guessing it's probably a combination of all the options...

I didn't realise so many of them were CRBs.

Not all of them were... before someone jumps in to disagree with me. But a large number of them were, as far as I know. Perhaps I should add another 2 options:
5) The players capable (and willing) to conduct massacres have left the game due to changes in game or ooc
6) It's just so damn hard now, with the complication of the iron process (and consequently steel), the modular weapons idea and the sheer amount of equipment you need (which of cause will now decay, making things even worse) without any attempt to balance the affects.

…and right now there is a bug when you strike with a sabre. Not easy to kill when that’s the only weapon available.

Tiredness also stops large attacks and also the reduction and implemention of skills, for exmaple one of my chars used to do around 30 with a sabre now he does about 10, and unfourtuantly he was one of my chars who massacured whole towns with his crew.

The massacres I witnessed didn't seem like CBRs
and the ones I precipitated certainly weren't

The tiredness makes massacring quite difficult. And the heavy effect of wounds too. My character is in process of attacking a bunch of people in a cowardly way but he'd rather have them move out out the bleeping way than just stand there getting more and more wounded. Of course you'll attack if you feel like you're trapped in the corner! When you're doing just a tiny bit of damage it's not very convincing, but seems like it's increasing, be that from the victims getting hurt and tired or what... But I noticed if you try to attack several people in a row, the chance of missing goes high very quickly, so you should attack only one or two people in an hour, then rest.

Why would it be a CRB in the first place? Why can't people attack other people. Wars happen. Psychopaths happen. Frankly, I don't think we see enough massacres.

Back in the day, a lot of time players would organize these massacres outside of the game. Some players even used all their own characters. These are CRBs.
Massacring is allowed as long as it doesn't break the CR.

Oh I see, yeah that'd be a breach. I haven't been playing for too long, but I haven't seen much violence apart from the occasional newspawn who just takes things and runs. I haven't even seen much piracy, though I've heard about it. Are the days of mass wars over? When will villages attack each other? I know Cantr isn't about action or course. But a little revolution is pleasant once in a while you know?

Violence use to be a lot easier but was made harder so that one person or even a smal group of people couldn't massacre a whole town by themselves in less than a few minutes. This is a very positive change.

It's a good change. Mass Violence will now need a large number of people working together, towns and villages attacking each other.
This I welcome, if only to be able to see that level of organisation in Cantr

Yes, I'm very glad that it happened. How did it work before?

No tiredness, no skill, no randomness of damage, no chance of missing, shields always blocked. So back in the day if you got four sabre armed and iron shielded people and put them up against 50 people with no iron or steel weapons and protection than those four guys would kill the town in less than ten minutes without ever losing any sweat or taking any damage. Now that is quite impossible.
