Maps tilted? North is north?

Is it just me, or do the maps seem different? I was looking at one of the locations on K-island, and west was...west, and north was...north. Can someone double check this?
Edit: As opposed to east (right) being north like it normally is.

The location map on k-isle I'm looking at seems fine (make that 'normal for Cantr'...) to me...

Hm. Okay then. Maybe I was just seeing things wrong. It's a location I haven't been to in a long time, so maybe I'm just not used to seeing it. Thanks for checking.

I have a char on a boat, and the map starts out fine, then suddenly switches to be as you describe, north being up. I have another on a boat, and this doesn't happen.

Maybe there was a massive earthquake and the tetonic plates shifted for part of the world.

Do you know that for a fact?

Aie, are we supposed to be giving away how to sail on the forums?
Anyway, K Island maps look normal to me. Didn't check elsewhere.
And I see no evidence for or against plates. So meh.

Yeah. It doesn't exactly apply.

I am getting sick of this type of question.
"find out in game" is getting really frustrating. Again, some sort of knowledge base is essential, or this will remain an old-boys club where only the older players (and their chars) have any idea what's going on.
Most of the complexities of this game have been introduced since I've been playing, so I've been able to adjust and find out about them one at a time over a period of 32 months. Same goes for most oldbies, or something similar. There's a reason the vast majority of new player don't stick with it, and this ridiculous "find out in game" thing, which I've seen used for everything from what to eat (reasonable) to whether a galleon can dock on dry land (unreasonable) is part of it.
We need a standard knowledge base that is available to all people in game.
The fact that the map is tilted 90 degrees clockwise should NOT be a state secret, and hasn't been before.

I think THLE was joking to make your point, West.
And by the way, the 90 degree tilt thing is written in the sailing menu, so it is public knowledge.

What sailing menu?
EDIT: NM. duh.

Public knowledge to those with boats.

Excellent point there, Nick.

Instructions on the map being tilted, and so forth, are in the FAQ and are therefore considered widely-available knowledge. That's discussable with no problems.
