So I've applied to be on staff...

Postby Agar » Thu Feb 17, 2005 4:08 am

Should I expect any response at all or should I wait for 6 months again? I imagine there's a number of applicants to all positions, I don't expect an immediate response, or even a prompt one, but some kind of response would be thrilling.

This is the second time I've applied, and I accepted the first time, but I somehow never got in after I accepted...

I would just like some assurance that my enthusiasim and willingness isn't in vain.

Ahh...A voice of pleasant optimism on the Cantr staff. :D

I don't blame you for being frustrated, nor for being disheartened. I can apologize profusely, though what difference would that make? I am but a volunteer, and sometimes real life, character's lives, and many other things get in the way of doing the kind of job I would like to do. I am working on it, though, and as of today, I am no longer the only Personnel Officer on staff. We will hopefully clear up some of the backlog, which I have been trying to get to on top of the million other things I have to do, so hopefully all applicants in the last six months will at least get an apology letter. However, if we do that, current applicants might not receive the timely response they deserve, so if you don't receive an apology letter, I apologize now.

Okay, have a prostrated myself enough? Can I get back to work on responding to your letter, Agar?

Congratulations Jessica (for all the work you now have before you)

And Agar, sending Oasis away with a nervous breakdown, won't help your situation. ;)

I wasn't trying to blame anyone for not doing thier job or anything, don't take this as a headhunt for a scapegoat. I was just wondering if the the job had someone to do it.

I'm glad to see there's someone working on it, and even more glad to hear you have help. I know and appreciate you're a voulenteer, after all, I applied to be one too.

Thanks for letting me know something.

I've re-applied too. So don't worry about any apology for me...

How are the departments for staff anyhow? Did I really need to apply? Of course, it would be better if I could program, but anyway...

Same thing happens when you apply for a real job and you don't get a call back. It takes alot of manpower and time to send a personal E-mail to each person that applied. Just feel assured that you don't have the job, thus the lack of contact.

What's most annoying is when they say they'll let you know, either way, and then you don't ever hear from them again.

Now I know this isn't the best time, with the server change and everything... but since I have nothing else to do, I may as well say while I remember:

Is anything happening on this issue? I've applied twice with no response... is this a not-so-subtle way of telling me to go away? Or do I just need to remain patient?

It's just frustrating.

Thomas noted on the server update topic that they are having email troubles, at the moment. Perhaps try emailing them again after the Server changes are done.

I know that the GAB people who facilitate the applications also have positions in other Cantr Staff Departments, which may have more pressing issues at the moment that require their attention.

I'm fully aware that they're all doing something at the moment, but my first application was nearly 6 months ago, and the second over a month ago. It really isn't a good way to deal with getting new staff... I don't even know if anyone has ever even read my applications.

I'll try applying again after the server upgrade, but if I don't get a reply to that, well, I'm not going to bother again. Cantr eveidently doesn't need my help.
