How Far Will You (or someone like you) Go?

So, to what lengths do you go to avoid a CR breach?

Do you realize you were about to say "about the size of a dog" and then stop and rephrase, because there are no dogs in Cantr, and a wolf is nowhere near that size?

Do you find yourself wondering what the word "sister" means in the Cantrian context, when someone around your character says it?

Do you force yourself to find a map that shows it, before you can go haring off to find limestone that you know your other character has already walked past?

And more importantly, what CR-breach-avoidances have you seen?

I was just thinking about this, because we have a whole forum dedicated to reporting CR breaches, but nothing for reporting those moments when someone around you does RP's something really carefully to avoid a CR breach of their own.

*snort* "What's the sky" was the most annoying case. For ARGHs sake that's damn annoying. Not everything can be coded in and I'm taking a lot of things for certain just because they're too trivial to be programmed in. Oh, and I think it was Anthony's character who once asked "what the hell is a raven". Gahh! If Cantr animals weren't immortal un-eating beings who only kill people for fun, they couldn't survive without a huge population of lesser animals. And another thing, there must be differences in height, otherwise mountains would lose their meaning. I'm almost willing to accept that the world is flat, because it seems that way, but there are local differences. So people who consider forests as "the green area" and mountains as "the gray area", which doesn't mean that there would be peaks, or foliage, are damn annoying. Or seriously need eyeglasses. (Bless that picture note in Blaman forest by the way, it really gives a good local touch.)

Oooh. "What's the sky" would be kind of irritating.

Cantr animals are kind of weird that way. Apparently, one sees more crocodiles than ravens. Go figure. With all the corpses around, you'd think ravens would be a very common bird variety.

And if we had maggots (and ravens) we wouldn't have to worry about corpses since they would detoriate sooner or later. But this isn't unfortunately an animal topic so should I just shut up?

Well, ok, bringing it back to topic....

How often have you stopped yourself from referring to the bodies rotting on the ground, or noticed when someone else mentioned them? After all.... bodies don't rot.

Never! I think... So in many ways I must be breaking the CR all the time...

You just have to make some assumptions, not everything an be coded

I try to refrain from using phrases with references to things that doesn't exist in Cantr...but in my Cantr there is a sky, sun, day and night etc. But I wouldn't talk about dogs or sisters intentionally...

Do you force yourself to find a map that shows it, before you can go haring off to find limestone that you know your other character has already walked past?

This is more serious...if you don't follow the above example you are cheating. You don't actually have to find a map of course...you can simply ask someone...but just walking there guided by nothing but your OOC knowledge is a serious CR breach.

And more importantly, what CR-breach-avoidances have you seen?

Well, I can't really remeber anything by anyone else...but one of my characters who tried to be romantic valued his love interest to pure steel (the most expensive thing he knew.) It wasn't very appreciated though

Dogs are in Cantr. ;)

I avoid CR breaching all the time to the point where sometimes it either drives me crazy like when they are travelers in the same location..."Damn, did this character go to the forest or was that my other character" Especially with a bad memory like mine so to avoid these situations I usually take more time out of my real life to jot little notes down about where each character has been. :P

So are babies, and yet one character had to remark rather surprised "I've never seen a baby" because she hadn't. If dogs exist in Cantr, they must be in some fairly small areas. Wolves are far more common.

I've recently had two characters in adjacent villages. One character had a large amount of wood, the other needed a lot of wood. I really tried to find a reason for one character to travell to the town of the other character, but I couldn't find one IC. Now one of those characters is dead  . Damn that CR-rule...

I'll say that I just play whatever fits the moment/my character best. If someone start yabbering on about the sea being blue (it's green damit :)) or talking about non-Cantr things, I don't get too worked up about it, unless it in someway disturbs the natural course of things - i.e: some mad person going on about this 'hedgehog' thing - ok
people talking about currency in undeveloped places - ANNOYING

:P

What, babies?! Like, coded-in babies? No way, that's totally unnatural. You must mean imaginary babies or twenty-year-old babies, right?

I was about to say the same thing Seko! So are there babies in Cantr now?!?! :D

OOC, that's what I've read in the forums, but they're only implemented in one place.
