Eh, but this is down to Cantr.

One of my char's is concerned of distance due to war. I need to know which way I can escape, mobilize, and strike our forces on our vehicle, bike and by foot. These are essential to how my char commands. He puts up a priority on upgrading roads, something that benefits everyone. So Distance is very important to me. If I knew it was closer to have gone via Knatr Desert and the other Deserts to Kii, rather than viisitng the MTs, I would've gone that way, but IC i didnt.

They only way to know the path is to walk it just like IRL.

I am not revealling anything new by saying that the graphical/as-the-crow-flys distance has nothing to do with the travel time just like IRL execpt setting a minimum.

There is a "walking on the water" topic somewhere where Jos mentions that certain trails take more time because they curve but the coding to see the curving isn't there. So in a few places when you logically walking around the water you see your chracter "walking on the water".
