No natural healing?

It seems to me that there is no natural healing anymore in Cantr...the only way to regain strength is from healing foods. (and of course other methods I have not discovered yet...)

If my suspicion is correct I would like to know why you decided to do that. It is not only totally unrealistic but also devestating for game balance purposes.

I think the absence of natural healing is an accidental side effect of the new system that hasn't been remedied yet.

No, Jos informed me that the absense of natural healing is a feature, not a bug. As for reasons, I can only imagine that it might strengthen communities if they have to care for the weak. I'm not in favour though.

It is a very bad feature.

I know that you want to promote cooperation and strong communities, but making it impossible to be a loner is not the right way...

I agree with Pirog.

It's not bad enough that tiredness cripples characters, but to remove even the slight natural healing is cruel. CRUEL. There are areas without healing foods nearby, healing foods of any type, and are populated by strong agressive animals, not to mention whatever people may be about. And no, it's not on Aki.

It's natural for people to heal normally, and it's what a society expects of them. One of my most active and favorite characters would have died were it not for natural healing, as would another character he encountered. Taking away natural healing degrades the game. You can't promote trade if everyone is dead.

Instead of healing foods giving instaneous healing they should increase the healing rate for a day or so... That would be more logical.

I like that idea. If you're hurt, and have healing food, you could eat a given amount each day, depending on the food, and you're healing rate would spike up to 4%-8%, again depending on the food. If you just have food and are resting, as in doing nothing and getting 4% a day back, when you get your second 2%, you could also get 1% natural healing. If you have no food or are working on a project, you get 0%.

That sound like a nice setup.

Don't think they'll change anything, but a guy can dream.....

I would prefer if healing food in the future was replaced by more realistic medicines...like herbs, honey etc.

But I really hope normal healing will be brought back as soon as possible.

I believe something like that was planned, or so I heard somewhere along the forum lines...and you can tell it is, by those 'mixtures' that are available projects in certain machines. :)

Those things involving resources from parts unknown awaiting a used longboat to find them?

Great.

At the moment you can't even use boats - you can't see where you are going...

Hopefully it'll be fixed soon. Before food runs out...

Natural healing is a good thing. It was always a good thing and it still is.

Instant healing from healing food is also a good thing, to my mind. For reasons unbeknownst to me, Cantr is being remolded into a progressively slower game, where you can't rely on much of anything (except locked buildings and boats) because your weapons and shields have wildly fluctating effects (I hit someone with a Composite Recurve Bow for 3 damage who lacked a shield when I was at 20% tiredness). My understanding is weapons can be deadly but are regulated by some bizarre system, and the only way to keep yourself alive when you're under attack has always been healing foods. Tiredness should also have 'healing foods', and rather effective ones.
In essence, you could make healing foods slow and obliterate Cantrian survivability while simultaneously making the game even slower, but why? Killing travelers for fun is not a practice I particularly want to make easier.

I wonder how that statistics thread looks if it was current? How many players are there, how many characters... it would be ... illuminating

Even if it was a really, really, slow, natural healing process, like real life, that would be better then nothing.

This probably should be in suggestions but...

for healing tiredness, a type of grain food would work the best with the whole complex carb thing, and a simple sugary food would boost energy for a little while, but then go back down. Then we could have diets.
