I wonder why I still bother to check on my chars

Right now, none of my major chars is still able to do anything, as they are all too tired.
The combat system is the worst, instead of the former one hit a day, we now have one good hit every 3 IRL months.
RPing is the only thing left, but due to some overzealous CRB freaks (who even call sneezing and coughing a CRB) even that is one the decline. By the way, how can one seriously play a warrior if one's too tired to lift a sword or play a craftsman if that char needs 10 days to finish a bone knife.
I like Tiredness as a principle, but recovery should be thorughly reviewed or Cantr risks to end in a frozen state...depopulated due to many people that left.
Please do something about it before it's too late.

Apparently there is some mysterious way to reduce tiredness. I’ve tried everything I can think of and can’t figure it out.
Whatev.
I’m tired most of the time in rl. I don’t need 15 chars who are exhausted. This was suppose to be a fun game. Now…not so much.
I’m almost out of here, too.

Hey don't give up people. Ok it's harder to get a hit through and dragging has turned impossibly hard but other than that I have noticed no trouble. I'm sure they'll make things more reasonable after a while.

Look. Ultimatums and threats won't get anything done.
It's been made clear before what might help get things done quicker. However, very few people seem to notice. So, I'll go through it again for you.
1. Volunteer to become a staff member yourself. None of the staff can devote a huge amount of time to anything. We all have lives to live outside cantr. And we are ALL volunteers, who gain nothing whatsoever from our work. The more staff we have, the quicker anything will get done. Bugfixing, accepting new players, rewriting the user documentation, new features that are needed... Anything at all.
2. There's a lot of time-consuming problems that occur simply because the server is overloaded. So what can we possibly do to fix that? Get a new server, a more powerful one, maybe? But that takes money. So what can you, the regularly cantr player, do to help?
DONATE! We're always in need of more donations. I think it's safe to say that if more people don't start donating money, not only will a new server be WELL out of the picture, but bear in mind that the current one also takes money to run. Not enough money to pay for that server? Well, the only possible result is that the game will have to be stopped. Think about it. Will even a one-off payment of $5 make much difference to your bank account?
3. Wait, there is no real point three. That's it.
Oh, I've thought of one.. If people leave, the server gets less overloaded. If the server is not overloaded, some bugs will happen less. That gives more time to fix the other bugs. And these complaints, which we need to answer, also take time away from more important things.
If all the people who complain and threaten leave the game, that may well help solve some of the problems. You see what I'm driving at here?
Besides, all your childish threats will get you absolutely nowhere. Who does respond well to threats? Do you?
No. So stop makign them.
(This rant was brought to you by Revanael, on behalf of himself.)

I had been about to compose my own gripe post, but this does well enough for starters. The tiredness, supposedly an antidote to pirate attacks, has ended up affecting town leaders perhaps more than anyone, it seems, many of them are playing less or hardly at all. Law enforcement is collapsing. And since these senior characters have all the keys and all the goods to trade, my own 23-24 year-old charries are frozen out. Yet "regime change" is impossible in any case for the same reasons - the combat system. The result is brain-numbing stasis.
I'd also be interested in hearing to what extent the more senior characters are affected by the wild fluctuations is skills, since any number of my junior characters are effectively ruined.

Uh, Revanael, you feeling a little better since you got all that out. It sounds like you have been holding it in for some time now.
Well, I am going to give my opinion on this matter. (Not like anyone cares). Change is a part of life. Change happens constantly especially when we don't want them to. In real life situations, the changes we can't help, do we sit around and mope about them, maybe, but can we change them, no. So what do we do.......WE ADAPT!

Sounds impossible....no.
Just like I pointed out about the time change thing. It doesn't matter, IF you learn to work around it. Adapt! The new changes have affected my charries as well. Here go an example for those who are confused:
One charrie had a problem with someone being on their boat. There was two people on this boat including my charrie. Of course my charrie hit this person which brought her tiredness up pretty good. Since she was already tired the shot did nothing. (Of course I should have no better, but since I forgot to think about that my charrie has to suffer. My fault not Cantr's by the way). Anyways, so when trying to drag this person we couldn't.
Point is I could have ran here like most do and began to complain (which doesn't help matters none), but instead we waited a day. Decided to risk all our strength to hit the idiot again and TA DA! It worked. You see people. Patience.......stategy.......indurence.......it will get you every where. Giving up will get you no where. I can give you more examples of my exciting charries lifez, but I know you guyz are probably tired of listening to me by now so......take from it what you can.......

Revanael, give it a break. You didn't address a single issue raised, and they were important issues. Earlier, you suggested I stop playing. Well, you can get away with that in my case, but not in the case of these other long-time players who are affected. They
are the friggin game.

Hey, thanks for the sarcastic and condescending reply, Rev.
Thanks for explaining that you really don’t need me to play the game.
Thanks for your explanation which, as far as I can tell, does not address our concerns at all.
These complaints about tiredness have been going on for some time with almost no response from anyone (thanks RKL for being the exception with your hint) who could provide some reassurance. I’m not even asking for it to be fixed immediately, I would just like to know what the heck is going on.
Is this tiredness a bug? Is there any hope this will change or can we expect this to be the status quo for the game? All of you who are in the know may not find this very distressing but clearly many of the rest of us are unhappy.
I don’t want to quit. I’ve invested a lot of time and care in my chars and I would like to follow through but if that is going to involve months of tediously waiting for them to get enough energy back to be able to function then it’s just not the game for me any longer.
How about having some respect and consideration for the players?

The new tiredness is only a problem right now because nobody really knew how it worked. What hapened was everyone who had repeating projects have had their tiredness go through the roof. It does go down overtime just be patient. It doesn't mean you have to stop working altogether. I just started very long projects. Has anyone tried a bed? There just aren't a whole lot of them in the game which is why tiredness is so common.
Complaining isn't the way to get things solved. If you don't have a system to replace the old one then you have no room to ridicule the existing one. And seriously if you are thinking about quitting because you didn't like the new challenge this has produced then I agree with Rev and perhaps you should quit because you obviously don't have any respect for the time that Jos and the rest of the staff put into this game.

Alright.
Kinvoya> I have to say this because I find this amusing. You were being sarcastic about Revanael being sarcastic.

Ok, not that funny, oh well.
I would say more but other people have addressed as I would have, so I will stop typing now

It's stressing for all to see so many people quitting / threatening to quit, especially for the staff members when they are working so hard to develop the game.
Take a deep breath. Calm down. No one is trying to hurt you or your characters with these changes. Players are important people that can make a difference. It's up to your choices if that difference is positive or negative.
And besides if your characters are too tired to do anything you can always rp with me!

I completely disagree. Just because I don't have an idea to replace the old one... what exactly was wrong with the old system? I liked it, I felt it worked and I feel perfectly entitled to stand up and defend it.

I really don't want a challenge from this game. Life is challenging enough - Cantr is, at least for me, a way to escape reality.
I also have to say that I hate the whole tiredness thing. Isn't Cantr slow-paced enough already? I liked the fact that I could leave my characters a day and them not be dead. Now even if I check irregularly I cannot do anything, as they are tired... RP is great, but where are these elusive RPers? I find fewer and fewer.
I know this is a rant, and I did not mean to upset anybody. By all means ignore my views, but telling people to leave can only harm Cantr, no matter what you may think.
Note: I apologise if this seems incoherent. I really am very tired right now...

The point is not what the view is, but it is presented. Childish threats about leaving the game and blasting the opinions of others who may like the tiredness aspect of the game is not the way to get ANYTHING done. You must keep in mind that the staff is doing there best to keep the game interesting and respect them for the work they put in to get this system running. Now I agree the tiredness recovery rate may be a bit too slow, but please understand that reprogramming a function of the game takes times and may not be instantly fixed.
