One Final Post

Okay, I'm writing one last post on this forum, then I'm done. This post is to say goodbye to all my friends here that I have grown to know and love. Cantr, over the past year, has been a blast. I can't tell you all the laughs I've gotten over this game, and this forum, and everything, but I can't do this anymore.
First, to address the players. I have made lifelong friends because of this game, and I really thank Jos and the other administrators for that. Chris (also known as new.vogue.nightmare) is my best friend in the world, and we met because of Cantr. Jochem, Heather, Dan, Jake, other Dan, David, Jos, Jon (even though we have had our disagreements), Pixie, Apache, Anthony, Rand, BERG, Sparkle, Netty, Missy, Nathan, Colonel, and I know tons of other people--I'll miss you all. Maybe, one day, I will return. Until that day happens though, keep in touch with me on any of my messengers. You all have been a joy to role play with.
Why am I leaving? That is a good question. For starters, Cantr does not have the same ambiance that it once did. When I joined Cantr in October of 2003, it was a group of about 500 skilled role players, playing a fairly simple game and having fun. Now, there are so many players--and of course, don't take this offensively--who aren't...hmm...how do I say this...they just aren't as dedicated as a lot of us were way back when. Making this post, I looked at the list of people who are on the forums. 13 pages of members, and I know that there are a lot more players than there are forum members. There are so many bullshit characters walking around Cantr these days, and it makes me sad.
Reason number two: Cantr has become way over-complicated. These new changes, they are absurd. You don't need 5 different health status'. You shouldn't have to gather and make 10 different things just to properly arm yourself. Of course, this is just my opinion, and I'm sure there are lots of people out there who think the changes are a positive step for Cantr, and they are entitled to their opinions. I personally just think that these changes has taken a fun, fairly simple game to something way too complicated. If I wanted to play a complicated game, I could play EverQuest, or a ton of other games. That was one of the things I liked about Cantr--that you could play it without a ton of effort. On a bad day, you could just log in and role play with the other characters, just for the sake of role playing. That's not so anymore.
I'm sure you are sick of reading this, and frankly, I'm sick of typing this. My hands hurt--but it needs to be done.
Of course, as you all know, my characters will all die. A few I will be sad to see go. But most I will be relieved to leave behind. I'll post my public characters here, so you all will know in case you don't know already who they are.
I'm sorry for all those affiliated with my characters, but this has to be done.
Goodbye and good luck to all.
Samantha
