To vote or not to vote?

I think in all fairness that the players should have a vote on big things that are being implimented in the game since we are the ones who keeps it alive. Does anyone feel the same.
I mean it won't be a great game if no one likes it right? And we want Cantr to be a great game..........don't we?

I think it would be good if they let us vote and take our wishes as guidance, but never forget that it is THEIR game, so they should always have the deciding power.
If I had a vision for a game I would like to stick with it instead of just bending over to get as many players as possible. That is usually a good way of ruining something original.

I've got to agree that it is ultimately Jos' game, and what he wants to do with it is what will happen. I'd like it if he payed attention to what people (or at least, people I agree with

) say...but that has to be up to him.
As for input...everyone in the administration gets an earful or so when they do something people dislike...like right now...so I think they don't need anything more than perhaps the forum votes the Sociologist keeps throwing up to know how the players feel.

Of course it is Jos's game and it is his say, but to be honest without dedicated players their would be no game. Cantr II is not a game you can play alone. And there are people that help keep it alive. Like the staff, the dedicated players, and the dedicated donaters.
So I just think it would be nice to vote. Of course the choice would be up to Jos whom I think would like to see our opinions before any actions are taken. If I am wrong it was worth a try.

You could play it alone, it would just be very boring.

I first would say yes, but if looking at the various polls we have here now the for example we would never have babies implemented, thanks to the people who know what raising children is like in the real world. (People with no childred drew.) Not all things are black and white, for example you may want that things would need some effort to be made but do not want that the player has to suffer from that effort, but mainly the character.

An argument I have presented on the forums before, and will probably have to elaborate on, as the rant topics breed here on the forums, is at what point does Cantr become tedious, over fun.
These changes may have a series of effects, to which I am not certain.
I do believe Cantr Staff should listen to our comments and adhere- as I am confident that they already do.

@ Nitefyre. Thats the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen you say.
And no, I don't think polls should decide what changes/implementations are made to the game. Not at all.
But of course they sometimes read the forum and look at the opinions of players, which lets them think about what they'll do or not do. But I don't feel that a majority poll should decide if something gets put in or doesn't. It's just ridiculous.
That's not to say they don't care about what players think (i don't think) but what it comes down to is the games integrity, not how pissed off it will make some people and not others since there will always be a divide in what people like and dislike about changes. There ALWAYS is someone who likes or dislikes the changes. And I wouldn't say that they do things to appease long time playing staff members. There are things long time players absolutely hate and love just as all the other players. No side, opposing or for something is more important than the next.
Get a grip. (People always say they'll quit, but they never do. Half who do, end up back here anyhow.) If JJ quit because of a change that he absolutely can not cope with, then perhaps cantr wasn't t he game for him. Since when has cantr changed to suit a player(s)? Why should it?

Let's see the choices again:
Jos chooses the direction the game is moving in and implements changes to even out the game a bit and add in new suggestions made by players.
OR
Let mob mentality rule. Changes only occur when a majority of the players agree something is wrong. Those in power stay in power ad nauseum because they already have the weaponry to do so. The only way new power is assumed is through guile and treachery - all out revolt against the oppressive powers that be that control the various towns and cities in Cantr.
Yeah, let me think about that one a bit.

I agree with Pirog here.
As for the recently made changes, they correspond very much to what has been suggested again and again. You'll notice it in time.

Agree with Junesun. From what I've seen/heard (and you will have done if you're paying attention) this is exactly what almost everybody asking for anything (except item deterioration) wants to happen, even though they don't yet realise it.

I take my words back, because they may have been offensive to certain players, and that is very bad taste, I can honestly, objectively agree with.

Polls are in no way an accurate population read, but they should be accounted for, but more importantly, the posts should be read.

This is mainly why I think we should vote and have polls. Not for them to decide what will or will not happen, but to provide our voice and our opinion before the action is already taken. If the staff would have read the comments that are being said now before all these changes were implemented there probably would have been changes that made at least most everyone happy. It's always good to have different ideas about certain changes. You never know the staff may have chose those ideas instead.
I believe you are right when you say if someone quits then Cantr wasn't for them any way, but only in a sense. Cantr as it is, is obviously right for whom ever is playing, but once you change Cantr or a very important factor in Cantr it won't be the same to that player anymore so them quitting is only showing that the new Cantr isn't right for them Not Cantr all together.

I agree with Pirog and the Industrialist (and you thought that would be impossible)
There should be a way to vote... but there already is one... the forum...
What goes on here seems to be taken into account by the Cantr staff, and they, rightly so, go on and do what the hell they like anyway...
All changes are good to some, bad to others. Often to an equal extent, so, at the end of the day, the decision does, and should, lie with the almighty...

Well, I voted no to this. My 'polls' in the Suggestions area were really just intended to provide feedback.
