Obviously you could legitimately do that...but it seems too common and too out-of-nowhere to be real RP...rather it seems like the player decided they wanted one less character, so how about killing someone with it.

Suicidal non-newspawns
Are all those characters who "decide they don't want to live" and mass-attack and run to get themselves killed CR-breaching?

I think that if you decide you have too many characters, there are better ways to deal with it than becomeing a nuicance. You can change your name to something like "Ignore me" and ignore that character, and starvation and/or animals will kill it. You can write the players department and ask very very nicely to remove just that player. You could just drop everything and walk around from place to place, like a vison quest.
I think the best way to deal with nuicance people, newspawns or not, is to lock them up to rot. It takes the longest, so in a way, you'll be forcing them to wait before making another character. It will frustrate the crud out of them.

No it isn't.
They're asking to be killed IC, and we're punishing them, as well as giving them their wish.
I'm really getting sick of all these topics that are trying to oppress what you can and cannot do in cantr.
Why not let it play out IC as it does all the time-
I can see the problem with spawnlings causing problems to have a new character, but seriously- what next- making suicide illegal altogether?
Sheesh!
I've always wondered why change a game that ain't broke- (except it always is broken with programming stuff that we need to report)
Either make a new one, or leave it alone, is my thinking.

OOC it's punishment for IC annoyances. That is a CR true...
But how many people just try to kill every annoyance that comes along? There are a few, but most places try to jail people. In character, you're just waiting for repentance or apology, or refrom or something. In character, you've got a snowballs chance. But that's the way it happens, and characters feel bad that a criminal never became part of the community, but they go on.
I have at least one character who tries to jail people, but I have another who will kill anyone out of line, with the possible execption of thieves who give things back. They'd get exilied.
