Is it just me, or has there been a sudden wave of people with the last name "Smith"?

I just joined yesterday and none of my three characters have the last name of Smith. I haven't seen any but that's probably because I only have about 10 people's names recorded. :-)

Of my 15 chars, 5 of them have just met Smiths in the last 2 days, and one has met 2

Well, it IS a common RL last name...

True, but it just seems weird that there was a sudden flood of them, as opposed to a constant trickle.
