Cantr-like games?

I'm curious if there are any other games you guys play while waiting for your minutes to refresh? In all my time searching for stuff to keep me occupied between classes, I've never come across anything even remotely similar to Cantr.
Searching for 'browser-based RPGs' doesn't really help, as just about every site Google brings up seems to be confused about the definition of "roleplaying." I don't really feel like going around killing monsters and hoarding gold, or taking over a kingdom with a tiny fantasy army, and I don't really see the point of sci-fi games that are basically identical except with spaceships and lasers instead of wizards, but those seem to be the only things I can find.
So, any suggestions?
(and Muds are unfortunately out of the question since I can't stand the default telnet client I'm stuck with at the college)

I'm pretty sure cantr is completely unique. Most online games of any kind wouldn't take the critical step of keeping your character in the game world while no one is in control, except for certain strategic games. Some MUDs might have some RP, but without continuously existant characters, it isn't even close to the same.
I don't play any other web-games because of everything I've looked at, only cantr is both free and worth the time. I'm not willing to play games with premium memberships or 'donations' that effect game play, so even the semi-decent strategy games tend to be out.
Side note...to much of the gaming world, roleplaying means having charictaristics that level up...which qualification cantr doesn't meet.

Alternatives to Cantr? HERETIC! BURN HER!
Ahem.
On a more sensible note, the Industrialist has more or less the same view as me. I've not found another cantr-like game.

I thought about a game similar to cantr, searched for something like it, and this was the closest to it.

I'm an admin on another browser based online RPG text based game, but it is vastly different than Cantr. For example, I'm hoarding millions in gold
No, as far as I've found, Cantr is the only Cantr like game out there. Very original, very unique, and a joy to play because of it.

Okay, other than Cantr-like games (since none seem to exist), what sort of decent browser-based games are there?
Of all the ones I looked at, there's only one I've played on a long term basis, mainly because it's based on a PC game I like. It's at least turn-based (though that doesn't really matter to me because I stopped playing for a few months and accumulated thousands of turns...), but there's no real interaction with other players, and even at a fairly low level my thief already has the best weapons and armor available, so it's getting a bit boring.
Awhile back I found a great space trading/fighting game called Ashes of Angels, and then I was all happy, but it almost immediately shut down right after I joined. That really sucked.

It was so awesome the few days I played, though, and it was actually like Cantr in that it took hours or days to go to another planet, and your ship kept travelling even while you were offline.
Other than that...nothing. But the internet is BIG. Surely I'm missing something good?

Cantr is the Atlantic Ridge of games, huge, impressive, and hardly noticed
EDIT: Forgot the most important thing, ONE OF A KIND!

I have never found anything remotly like Cantr, and it has the distinction of being the only game that I haven't grown borred with in the span of a couple weeks. I like it because I'm a big fan of the Civilization games and I think Cantr is like those games but at an individual level instead of the "god" level you play at in Civ titles.

The only thing I can think of that he might be referring to is the Atlantic Ridge, a constructive plate margin running roughly down the centre of the Atlantic.
