Chat Server

Postby Andy! » Sun Oct 17, 2004 12:58 pm

I just saw the new server for chatting amongst Cantr players has been set up. I Have mIRC and I typed /join #Cantr and got into a server and there is no one in it. I thought it was ment to work! :?:

Join the right server.

I'm planning on writing a guide for the forums later, if someone doesn't beat me to it. For now, follow the guidelines at dal.net

Update: if you want to get one there now, or cannot use a normal IRC client, there's an applet on the website you can use. [EDIT: I'm an idiot.]

Changing the session number to your own, of course!! :) ... But there is a link under 'discuss cantr' on the player page.

I can't join; I get a "can't connect to server" error both on mIRC and on the applet :-(

I was getting that last night, too. On mIRC, Trillian's IRC support, and using DALnet's Java Client. I came to the conclusion that DALnet hates me, or the server was down :P

I'll try again later. I'm painting right now...

Just one question: which is the right port? 6667? 7000? Anything in between?

Don't change the port. It should sort itself out. But both 6667 and 7000 are supposed to work.

Try a different dalnet server. There's a list on the www.dal.net site.

I personally use an internet-based client (CGI) at www.polarhome.com - I can't use Mirc at the moment from behind this Uni firewall, and I need to fiddle with it more.

I tried every single server on the DALnet homepage.
I can connect to Undernet without problems, so perhaps somebody can set up a bot that connects Undernet #cantr to DALnet #cantr?

Use the applet interface on the Cantr frontpage.

That should be working.

Argh. OK then.

Go to dal.net, and read the guidelines there.

Ah, there's a problem with the applet Jos set up. I'll get him to sort it out when he comes back online next.
