Latin Area for Cantr
I was wondering if anyone wanted to start a Latin Area for Cantr? The current requirements for starting a language area are.....
- You need four players to participate in the Language Area.
- You need someone willing to advertise the Language Area to more people. (can be out of the four)
- You need someone who will translate the site and be the offical translator for the language (can also be out of the four)
So far we have three players, and I would gladly do the second and third, but I doubt I could advertise it as well as some people.
And if anyone wants to learn Latin, Judith has a website that teaches it. http://www.learnlatin.tk/ So go there if you want to learn Latin and join the area.
Do any of you know Latin well enough to compose a grammatically correct sentence for that matter?

Hmm... I might actually be interested in a Latin area. Next semester I'm taking a Latin module (to try and refresh my Latin language abilities which have lapsed slightly in the past 1 or 2 years), so a Latin area could well help.
Yes, I'd be interested. Does that give you 4 people?

Ah, part of the fun of latin is that it rarely matters which order you put the words in the sentence... as long as you use the right endings. But there's still guidelines to word order as well.
I might be a fifth player.
But we tried to get that No-RL-language area set up, and a lot more than four were interested. It still didn't get anywhere.

Although I really don't mind if a latin area gets started I do think the chances for it to ever grow big is very small...I don't know how much effort is behind starting up a new area, but there are many interesting features I would like them to concentrate on instead.

I could probably explain that, Jos is only making real life Languages, and he doesn't want too many languages, that is why I posted this topic, I need more people because to actually convince him this is possible it needs more support. Oh and how would you translate the No-RL-Languages machines, resources and such.

Trage, it seems you found enough support
... I suggest we start with translating and once we have enough translated, we'll open an island for Latin. You should apply for the languages department using the normal procedure and in the meantime I'll enable translation to Latin.
And Pirog, the no-RL-language is really a more problematic idea where the basic rules of language areas do not apply. I'm still not sure how that should work properly - but lets not discuss it on this thread
