I stopped using "you" and "my" long ago in Cantr relationships, for the same reason. It's... creepy... I'd rather not be talking about myself, when it's my characters.

In any case. If you just read what I wrote, that proves that I do also proceed with romantic and sexual relationships in Cantr, but strictly on a role playing level. Romantic situations always reflect off of my characters personality. If one is wild about a specific woman, he might as well make love with her - however, it another one hasn't had a woman, and he's 50 years old now, and a woman starts being attracted to him - he won't jump her, he's lived thirty years already without sex, he can live another thirty and still be happy.

Only one of my characters is married, one is engaged, and one is deeply in love with another. That's three that are involved in actual sexual relationships. Three of Fifteen. And you know what's funny? If you know me, personally, in real life or on instant messages, you'd be like "Holy crap, he can control himself in Cantr?!" *Snicker*

Well good, I'm not the only one who feels that way. :D

I don't use "my" when I RP, but I do use you...for the reason Swymir pointed out. But perhaps I should stop if it creeps people out...

I have the same view on the subject as Nick. During the times I have had sexual encounters in Cantr it isn't because I as a player wanted it, but because my character wanted it.

Exactly, it's role playing for character development. Not cyber sex.

The 'you' thing is a little creepy sometimes. I had tried to over look it, but it was just too weird. Luckily, I had a good IC reason for my char to stop seeing that particular char.

Well, I hope anyone that finds it creepy when I do it will let me know OOC...until then I will probably continue.

And on a lighter side, isn't avoiding sex in Cantr because you find it morally questionable if you are in a RL relationship a CR breach?

I suppose it could be thought of as a breach, at that...

My characters don't avoid sex for my reasons... They just don't attract that kind of character...

For everyone who never has, just say what you want when the time comes. Don't worry about it, just have fun. I mention this because people are kind of portraying that there are "rules" There's not. Just go with the moment and have fun.

I'm over 18, but I've never done it and I don't think I'd want to; at least the way Cantr is now, it just doesn't seem very RPish and does creep me out a little...maybe once children are introduced it will be different.

The reason we have instincts for sex IRL is because that's how we continue the species; as I brought up in the thread about children, do these characters even have hormones? Plus, can there even be physical attaction in a world with no descriptions? Yes, your character can become emotionally involved in a strong relationship, but it would be more of a platonic thing.

LOL, I had another woman start coming on to one of my (also female) newspawns not too long ago, right after I introduced myself. Thankfully she stopped because I slept for several days and now there's a lot of other stuff going on, but at the time it was both hilarious and a little stupid too...mainly because she said my character was "pretty", when as far as she knew (heck, as far as I knew) they were hideously ugly, and also because it was the sort of "oh look, now everyone can magically read my character's mind now" roleplay that I can't stand.

I'm a firm believer in "Show, don't tell" when writing, and especially when RPing, when 3rd person omniscient shouldn't even exist; though sudden bouts of psychic ability seem fairly common in Cantr...

I've done it before (cantr-wise; I'm leaving my personal life out of this ) but not often. It feels weird and so I only do it in one specific IG relationship and only when in a weird mood...I suspect my char's significant other would be happier if he 'did it' more often but I find it somewhat draining (not to mention time-consuming). She may be too much woman for him...she's recently hinted that she'd like to try a 3-way  and I'm not sure my char. can deal with that.

I have a char who's been married for 15 years and they've never RP'd nothin'. Lot more relaxing.

(I may get in trouble for this post  )

It is very awkward to initiate a sexual relationship with another character...since you don't know what level they prefer.

With some characters I have a more "romantic" type of sexual encounters, while other have been more physical and detailed in their nature...(often this is by "request" from the counterpart)

The only time I initiated such a physical relation I felt like I crossed the line and it made me feel really awkard as a player...

Don't feel ackward, if you think the moment is right to bust a move, then bust a move. :D You'll never know if you don't try. And since humans are basicaly modified animals, the odds should be in your favor. Try, and try again.

And if your pants rip while busting your move... just give up.

The sound of an ass-crack of the pants ripping is so unappealing, everyone within 100 yards will lose their horniness. Shame on you, Pirog. Shame on you.

Also, you know, if you're out of practice, just log onto ICQ and wait till 80 of those bots bother you at once. So damn annoying.

"Hello, Pirog!"
Pirog > Hello...
"Is this your first time! I know it's mine! *GIGGLE*"
Pirog > No, Bots are my life...
"I'm glad! That's great! Shall we get busy?"
Pirog > I'm not sure, I have a term paper to write...
"Oh... Pirog, don't touch me there... it makes me horny..."
Pirog > What? I didn't do anything...
"Take off my shirt, please? I'm... I'm... ohhhh"
Pirog > What the hell?! What's your problem?!

The above scenario would be classified as a FAILURE. Pirog, get into gear, and bust a move. And when I say "bust a move" I do not mean "Bust-a-Move" because that's a copyright title, and I'm not in the mood to be sued.

Deep down, I am though.

Only been playing Cantr for a few months - none of my charcters have got romantically involved... Not been on my agenda for them really, at least, not yet...

I wouldn't object to it though - it's RP,

but cyber-sex.. that's somehting different - don't get it personally, and it would make me feel guilty about my partner...

:P

It's not like I'm lacking experience from hitting on someone or initiating a relationship...it is rather the level of descriptions regarding the actual sexual act that can feel a bit weird...some like more romantic desciptions while others prefer the dirty magazine novel version...and it is hard to know or even ask about :)
