How much for the little girl?

At some point, the eternal whining about having kids or life before 20 will suceed. But to have kids, Cantr folk need to reproduce. This information would possibly be inferred as a way of introducing sex to minors, which someone, somewhere, will be offended by.
There are a great number of players under the legal age to have sex playing, exposing them to reproduction would be a bad thing. A solution: use Credit card age verification! A new problem: You want kids, you have to "donate" for them. Will boys and girls be the same price? Do you get a discount for buying in bulk?
Creating kids is a bad idea, and I oppose it, for this and many other reasons.
Read the poll thourghally before voting.

Good points...
I just voted for babies in Cantr though - I agree with the minors situation, but (as is often pointed out to me...) This is Cantr - not real-life - there's no reason that sex would be required for baby-making. Why couldn't Cantrians reproduced individually (there's a biological term for that - but my brain's frozen)
I'd like to see them - as they'd add a whole new dimension - looking after children, a major strain on resources and time... But, this being Cantr, there's probably not many IC reasons to have children, whereas in RL, reproduction (at least for animals and some humans) is a major component for life...

I'm pretty sure it would just be a few clicks and the baby project would start. I don't think you'd have to simulate sex.

For God's sake I bet everyone who plays Cantr knows where kids come from and how they are made! I'm sick of games being so much against sex while they encourage violence at the same time. Talk about double standard... I was writing so naughty stuff in the age of twelve that older people nearly dropped their eyes. It's better they do it online than in real life. I don't think much people under 13 play Cantr, at least I hope so, and people 13 or older are definately something completely different than their parents think. Once I ran a poll in a site where chatters can post their pics, the subject was how old were you when you lost your virginity? The most common answer was 14.
Edit: A word of warning, the bad time of the month is quite close so I advice not trying to provoke me (though that does not stop me for being provoked) and please do not be offended if I threaten to bite your head off. I try to stay out of this kind of conversations but I cannot guarantee anything.

Calm down, no need to gets so worked up about it.
Personally, I don't think babies would be very popular, because they'd essentially be a useless object that you'd have to expend resources on.
Of course if they had hitpoints it may make for some interesting options for evil chars...
About the whole sex thing, I'm sure making a baby will be a project just like anyone else...though it might lead to bad RPers having annoying sex all over the place, which as far as I'm concerned is OOC. I see no reason for it in Cantr where people don't even have descriptions, and as far as I know they also don't have genitalia or reason for physical attraction...though that apparently doesn't stop other women from coming onto my newspawns...

I don't know how it would end up ultimately, but I always thought the preffered approach was that babies would be playable characters, and the only way to gain more characters after a certain point, so they'd be pretty important in that they turn into full working characters eventually

I'm not sure that that would make them appealing IC...particularly not appealing enough to provide the population growth needed in cantr. Also...how do you expect to get people to play them? My first character will hit 40 soon. So if I were playing a baby, I would have to play for a little longer than I have been in cantr for them to hit 20...that really isn't worth it.
And don't try to counter with the "first 2 characters spawn" argument...even if I had 14 adult characters and wanted another, I don't think it would be worth more than a RL year of play to reach full functionality. I don't think it would be worth even 200 days.
One more reason to dread the coming of the new age...

Just what I remember from conversations over the last couple years, nothing official in it.

Put use to beds! Have them be able to be used as a "tool" for making children. And, who says that children can't have their growth accelerated? Like, maybe, have it so that children reach maturaty in just 5 years? "Materity wards" might be added too, just rooms that have someone attending the children. Ooh, crap, I frogot what their called, but one man could have a huge population of women that he *ahem* yes, I think you know what I'm saying.

Cots can be just as useful as beds, though perhaps not as comfy.

We've got string, why not hammocks as well? Hey, reproduction can happen anywhere, why not put another project on the stone table? Or compartmentalise vehicles so cars have back seats?
And it gives another use for rubber besides tires and harvesters. Don't forget things can be made out of sheepskin and the like as well. But all that would mean that people were doing reproduction projects without the intent to reproduce.
Sort of like real life.
And it lets that "Best Little Whorehouse in ... ??? Olip forest?" have a more relevant use.

make people mature at 10 instead (with full funtionality), then a baby only needs 200 days to mature
