The Best Little New town?

When the game first started out places like siom, quillanoi, Lad, alenz hills and other big citys only started out small. So I think smaller towns are getting bigger and one day big towns won't be so popular. Anyone agree

So the best new town in my mind is....
Reniov Mountains
What do ya'll think? What is the best little town in cantr

Kirinn Forest looks rockin', from the outside in.
Small towns are definetly fun-and close knit.
Oooh, and from the inside out, I love Djorf Hills North.

Heh, most of my characters don't like big cities because it's too noisy, theres too many laws and such.
But I think Quillanoi Forest (west), Xiria Forest, and Kwor Fields are doing pretty good.

A lot of those small towns, I don't think, will last long. Especially once limits on farming are added in and becomes more of a seasonal thing. Places like forests and mountains will need a large community outside of their given area to provide them food. I say large because that community would also need to provide tow areas with food rather than one. So I think once that change happens (probably not until Cantr II 2.0) these forest and mountain towns will slowly die and a.)disappear or b.)become a lot smaller than they are now.

Actually, some of the forest area's are surviving quite well on the meat they can cook. And in a lot of these small towns, food is distributed since there is no immediate foodsource. Good neighbors don't let neighbors starve to death. I imagine some mountain areas might have trouble though, unless they can manage a good trade.

For now they are but we have to remember that when food that needs to grow becomes more of a seasonal event and scarcer then it will become hard for some of these places to get supplied with food especially when you have more people living in the forests like Seatown and Karnon then you do in the areas surrounding it that can grow food.
Plus these areas are very vulnerable. All it would take is an enemy to cut off their food supply and they are screwed. Yeah they might be able to survive on meat until the animals are gone or if they are able to break the siege but if they can't then those forests are going to have a lot of problems.

How far ahead of ourselves are we getting, RKL? Is this something that will happen in the near future? Cantr II 2.0?'
And also take into consideration, how much like real life do we want to make cantr? At what point does it become tedious rather than fun?

Look up the threads on Cantr II 2.0. This might be a little bit but Jos, who is the one working on it, might be able to give you a better idea of where he is. There is a website out there (or was) on the development of Cantr II 2.0. Pretty much it is a new version of this game with whole loads of new features and I believe working on a Java client rather than a web browser.
Jos would be able to give you all the details but he already has done this in other threads some of which are titled Cantr II 2.0.

Can't we just have a parallel development? Cantr2 and CantrII 2.0? I'm not sure if I'd play this new version, especially if it runs on a java client. I've got a computer at home I'm limping along after I got a java virus. As soon as I can afford a more current OS than Win98, I'm wipeing drives.
This is a sow paced game and is good because of it, but if it becomes tedious to play and some places become simply un-inhabitable, it takes away some of the fun.

Ooo now for a change Agar tops my personal popularity chart!

Java
BAD NEWS. Java
DEATH. There are just so many security holes in M$ "Java" that I tried to remove it altogether from the IE browser and my PC. Somehow I failed. Now when I try to install the Sun version it crashes the Kernel. Microsoft and Sun are at war--fine--but they must fight someplace else than on my PC!

Agree with that too. Sure some towns are overly stuffed with food, steel and unbearable snobs, but I'm having the most fun in little backwoods places or faraway mountain tops that would suffer unbearably from any more messing. Ten lions and forty dead people are enough for now, thanks.

ActiveX is Microsoft's ripoff of Sun's Java. Java's nice, AX isn't.

Well, the new island I'm on will be great. I like it cause it's abandon and I get first at it. It has its downs but for the most of it my King and I are taken in as much as we can while we can. The only way a older member of Cantr can get to this island is by boat and only one boat has found it so far as I know.
So Ha Ha!!

I love Reniov Mountains, but to be fair it's the only really small town I've been in. Places with huge populations get on my nerves because there's just too much going on, too many laws, etc.
I do think there ought to at least be a little food on mountains, except for the higher parts there should be vegetation and the like, and animals can live there. Mountain goats, anyone? Or mountain lions?
Though even if there is no food I think a community is possible, there just needs to be planning for efficient trade routes. A vehicle would help, too. And making people pay to mine resources will suddenly make a lot more sense, especially if you're one of the closest places to get that resource.

Dont even suggest that obtaining food be made easier
