Why cant i make a carving knife?

Why cant i make a carving knife?

whenever i try to make a carving knife the project comes up blank and wont let me add iron to it. why is that? is it a bug

THe carving knife projects have been fixed now. All existing projects should be working, future projects should be possible without problems.
