About boats

Postby Psycho Pixie » Tue Sep 28, 2004 10:21 pm

what is happening to all the boats out there that have only dead bodies on board???????

lets say this guy goes out on his boat at direction 270. for 5 cantr years he sails, and realizes he will never hit land before he dies. so he turns the boat around and heads directly back at direction 90, and unlocks his boat, knowing he will die.

Technically, that boat will eventually reach the place he sailed from, but it never docks because he was dead and could not cue the boat to dock, so it runs aground, right there, next to the town, unlocked and open for some new owner. BUT no new owner can ever get it, because it isnt docked at the town for all to see....

and how many ghost ships are out there, floating in place, waiting for someone to find them? How would another boat find them??? hmmmmm

just a thought.

The boat will continue on the journey until it stops because it hit a land barrier.

But the boat will float with the dead bodies on board until another boat decides to dock with that boat and they decide to take the boat as their own or simply pillage what is on it and then leave the boat to the mercy of the sea.

If you build a smaller boat, can't you dock onto a larger boat?

That is something that you will have to find out on your own. Sorry.

Its better to have a boat floating on the sea for no one to use than have a an unlocked boat with no key to it land at your shore. Boats with unlocked locks and no keys are surely a good way to turn people into pirates.

I'll be revising what boats can dock on other boats to make sure that at least one boat type can dock on another boat, to help eliminate 'ship wrecks' in the sea. Of course, I'll need aproval, but all I have to do is flash my charming white teethed smile, and I'm in. Really. (Okay, it's more complicated that that. Jos makes us fill out so many forms when we change something in the game, then mail them to him. Annoying. I think he just wants us all bankrupt on stamp costs.)

Using boat-boat docking you could try to abandon the boats at sea. Of course, then you can't guard them, but considering...

Heh, hidden treasure on an abandoned ship in the middle of the sea...

I know what you mean. It must have cost me over a hundred dollars to mail all of those forms to him by air mail so that he could approve the changes and do it quickly.

It's too bad that we can create some sort of database to do it for us....
