I just thought this would be a good time to discuss old Cantr events and how they have formed the current world.

The first event....The Tragedy of Richard Cromwell (event named by Easle Quathak in his essay of the same title).

Pretty much the events leading to and from Richard Cromwell's take over of Quillanoi so many, many years ago.

I think this started the end of the dictatorships in that region. At that time you had Tircqi taken over by Purple Tortoise and Brunoi taken over by Ryan McConnel. Richard Cromwell originally tried to take over Reniov Mountains which was controlled by Siom but failed. Cromwell did escape and ended up in Quillanoi and was even able to gain their trust even though warning of his deeds in Siom territory had come to Quillanoi. Cromwell did successfully take over Quillanoi but then a few days after the people of Quillanoi (though very few of them were armed) rose up against him and his supporters and overthrew in one bloody day. Afterwards, revolts in both Tircqi and Brunoi occurred against their former dictators which led to their downfall. But do you think that Quillanoi's example led to the revolts against the iron fist of Queen Purple and Emperor McConnell? I think word from Quillanoi leaking into those areas gave the people the hope and courage to rise up against their dictators.

Now the other question is what if the revolt in Quillanoi against Cromwell had failed and most of the people of Quillanoi were killed by Cromwell's supporters would this have pretty much ended any hope for free people of the Tircqi/Brunoi/Quillanoi/Siom region? Would Siom eventually have fallen to a dictator of their own or perhaps fall to one of the other three dictators?

I remember those days. My character was Ralph Tatum, a very hard guy to get along with. When Cromwell took power, he simply said "oh well, one government is replaced by another, I dont really care", or something along those lines.

After Cromwell was taken down, I was labelled as a supporter, and was attacked. I ran away, and someone sent a guard to go and get me to come back. However, instead of asking me to turn around, he simply told me that now was his chance to kill me

I think it would have been inevitable for Siom to fall to such dictatorships. Quillanoi is a small region which you have to pass through to get from Brunoi/Tircqi to Siom, or vice versa. Quillanoi's revolt stopped the flow of dictatorship from continuing north.

I don't think the revolt against Cromwell had any impact at all on the revolts in Tircqi and Brunoi.

I had characters taking parts in the revoltes in both of the towns (Tircqi and Brunoi) and they had plans from the very beginning to overthrow their dictators. My characters didn't even hear of the things happening in Quillanoi.

Ryan McConnel got his power from the very beginning by saying that he would lead a liberation army to free Tircqi, and he seemed to have actual plans of this. A lot of the soldiers in his army was set on first freeing Tircqi with the help of their dictator and then take care of him at the same time...

Ryan McConnel actually got his power by picking up keys to all major buildings in Brunoi when a certain Innkeeper and all his mules dropped dead.

I seriously doubt that Siom would have been in any danger, in those days Siom was at the top of it's power and could probly have armed more people then Quillanoi, Brunoi, and Tircqi together, the sheriff's office alone in those days was almost as large as the Lad army was at the same time. Plus, it has never been just Siom that anyone would have had to deal with. To get to Siom from Quillanoi you have to go through Reniov mountains and the miners that were there, the forests and the people and deputies living in them and then if they were still alive they would have gotten a shot at Siom itself. It would have been fun it things had played out differently, never has been much excitment in Siom other then the random thiefs and "unexplained" deaths.

They had plans but plans are just that; plans. I know Quillanoi (not the government though) sent some people to help the people of Brunoi overthrow McConnel. I'm not sure if they actually got there to help.

I don't remember anything about Quillanoi at the time too but my character (Thomas Covenant) was working on building an alliance with McConnel to help overthrow Purple but at the same time built an alliance with people in Brunoi to help overthrow McConnel. And it worked until the time warp. Covenant actually got McConnel to Tircqi where they found out they already had overthrew and killed Purple and with the help of Beebleford and Yest they were able to capture McConnel in Tircqi and were holding him for a regional trial for his crimes against the people of Brunoi. But then the time warp occurred.

Purple was still able to be overthrown but McConnel never arrived in Tircqi and instead returned to Brunoi where he was then overthrown in the much the same fashion that Purple was or I have been told.

But I was just getting at did Cromwell's downfall begin a chain reaction in that region of the fall of the dictators. Because years after both Purple (who's reign had been the toughest and strongest) and McConnel's iron fists broke against rebellions.

His excuse (or maybe it was his actual reasoning) was that he was doing so he could build an army to take out Purple. If I remember correctly, McConnel was an employee of Thomas Covenant who was sent to Brunoi on an iron expedition but then never returned.

Lets not forget the lesson of DoUrden vs. the Grand Army, Jerry. Larger numbers aren't always an advantage especially when they are as spread out as Siom's forces were.

We also must not forget that Cromwell was actually successful at taking over Reniov Mountains for a time until Siom Sheriff Deputies were able to regroup and begin a counterattack on him and his supporters there.

I think if Cromwell had kept hold of Quillanoi, and McConnel and Purple kept power, I think this would have created three potential threats to Siom on three different fronts that could have eventually led to Siom overextending themselves.

You should also keep in mind that Ryan McConnel didn't rule Brunoi for very long. I would even say that he was never really in total control of the people of Brunoi.

I remember back in the 200s, my character Eechii Tamagotchi lost his virginity to Harley Quinn. Man that was hot...

You should also keep in mind that Ryan McConnel didn't rule Brunoi for very long. I would even say that he was never really in total control of the people of Brunoi.

Did these events occur after or before the time warp? I remember what happened before the time warp but then things become sketchy afterwards. I had heard that McConnel never arrived in Tircqi after the time warp and instead returned to Brunoi where they had already prepared plans to overthrow him.

Well, actually Siom at that time would have been more prepared for any action then what Lad was during the DoUrden war, Lad was already on the downswing when it went to war and DoUrden's success was more due to the "warning" they got then to anything else. Conversly, there is no one in Siom that would have made such a mistake during the time in question, or at least no one who had access to any vehicles. Which brings me to another point that mattered so much in the Lad/DoUrden war, Siom at that time not only had more men and weapons, but many, many more vehicles, which included the only car in that part of the island at that time.

Also, during that time Siom had a much larger population then any of her potential enemies, meaning more manpower. Lad had a total of 14 in the army that marched on DoUrden, Siom had that many or more just in town. Plus, any army marching on Siom will have the same disadvantages that Lad had marching on DoUrden: Siom and the people around it are so stocked up on healing food it isn't even funny.

Last but not least, there is only one way into Siom over the mountains unless you want to take a year long detour through the swamp, three threats wouldn't have meant three fronts to the war, at most two fronts, one over the mountains and one from the sea, assuming of course that Tircqi had a navy and knew how to get to Siom by water (both assumptions would have been wrong though, Tircqi didn't have either during Purple's reign).

Oh, yeah, Cromwell did manage to take over Reniov Mountains for a short time, but, it would never have happened like that today if someone tried it, Cromwell made his move way before the weapon and combat changes, someone today would probly be pickaxed to death if they tried what he did. The only reason he held the mountains for as long as he did is because it took that long for someone with weapons that could make it past a iron shield to showup/wakeup to the scene.

I think time has distorted your memory of what happened in Reniov Mountains. Cromwell declared himself king over an area with about 6 people. Two well established characters did not support nor rebel against this, they just asked to be left alone.

Cromwell approached one of the weapon weilding characters to support him, and that did not happen. Cromwell found himself hiding behind locked doors until he finally fled towards Stofer mountains. To this day, I still don't know how he made it away alive.

A year or two later, Siom deputies made it to the mountains and attacked the ones that defended the mountains. The idiotic sheriff and deputies told the ones that defended the town that they had to return to Siom to be judged or they would be killed.

I was never actually there for when Cromwell took over but I was one of the deputies that arrived afterwards. I believe the sheriff at the time was under the impression that the people still around where Cromwell's supporters. I believe it was Sheriff Bekah Starz if my memory serves me correctly.

You are correct, I wasn't sure how to spell her name, so I left it out. She ended up dying in the Swamp according to some building project sign.
