I think I found it through one of those RPG lists. At the time I was looking for political and society simulators and had already tried some like Republic Online (which is incredibly boring and dead now) and Particracy (good to an extent but not realistic enough).

Ultimate Games Directory banner ad. I remember actually going back one page, found the ad had cycled out, and hit refresh until it came back. I can't tell you what attracted me to it. Maybe it was the coloring and down-homey feel similar to old-school computer RPG games.

On a games site, couldn't tell you if it was one of the ones listed. I wanted a free online rpg with no fancy graphics, so that the pos comp/connection i was running at the time could handle it. Tried a few from the list, Cantr was the only one that i came back to.

I found Cantr from some game site...was looking for a free browser based rpg, Cantr was an option, so I tried it out. Was a good decision.

My bf found it googling for Esperanto, not looking for games at all.

I believe I found it by searching for "free online RPGs"
I think that was basically how I found it. I've tried out a large variety of games, but I've only kept up with this and two other games...one reason is because you never get the chance to be off long enough for an account deletion...and plus, Cantr is awesome!

I found this on the Plit games site (I think the same one that is called Ultimate Games Directory in Cantr).
I was voting there for my favourite game,
www.warofempires.com, and Cantr was, at the time, exactly one vote lower. I thought I'd have a look at which game it was that we were beating by one vote, and quite liked it. If it hadn't been for that co-incidentally similar number of votes, I'd never have looked at Cantr at all!

Because of Junesun, who mentioned it on Unilang.

Actually, because of Junesun, too, who mentioned the game in her ICQ profile.

That was a looong time ago but it seems like it might've been one of the top three.
